Going to die but not really

  • Belly35
In my life I have thought I was going to die or in a situation where something happen and for that split second thought this is it I’m dead.
Once was when I was young and was swimming I slipped into the side of the lake edge and part of the bank fell on top of me. I was pulled under and could move it was only 2 foot deep. I fought and was kicking but was running out of air. I even felt myself slowing down (like in slow motion). But then what seemed forever my one foot came loose from under the mud bank. I kicked the other foot loose and up I came. I thought I was going to die when I was under that muddy water.
I have another one/two about a boob trap and a RPG but you get the idea…

Not counting the dentist office and the laughing gas ...... I thought I was dead .... over wisdom tooth first time using laughting gas

This type of situation has happen 6 or 7 times in my life.

How many time in your life you thought that this was the end and your life was going to be ending?
    Please explain if you wish….

Well, I hate flying because of the fear of death, but I'm pretty good with turbulance but...

Flying home from Nassau, Bahamas we had a connecting flight in Houston. On the way to Houston we hit an air pocket and dropped like 500-600 feet in very very quickly, and I thought for sure the plane was going down.

    3 Times:

First one (was by far the scariest) I was 21 years old (3 years ago) and I was drivng on 475 N in Toledo at about 10:30pm. It was just over the bridge to downtown before the Ann Arbor/Detroit Split. I get passed by a car flying by me and the pick-up truck in front of me was changing lanes to pass. The car flying by me smacked the truck and went crashing into the center rail. The truck went smashing to the right and I swerved to the left to void him and the car that passed me was in the air. I actually sped up and drove underneath it. It landed about 3 feet behind me. I thought I was a goner. If I had braked I wouldve hit it head on at about 50-60mph. Then it almost landed directly on top of me.

Police say the man in the car died on impact when he landed back on the road. The truck driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The other two was a plane ride and a car accident where I was the passenger. Neither were NEARLY as scary as the first, but I still thought it was over for a split second.

    twice both in a plane
once from from Detroit to Pittsburgh, the flight was no stop turbulence most of the hour flight.
the other was on a Continental flight from Sao Paulo to Newark, the plane must have dropped a good 500 feet.

I was walking home from a stupid festival that was occurring at the local park. I went to run across the street and saw a car coming. As I planted my feet to stop my forward momentum, I slipped and fell straight on my back. The car slammed on his brakes and stopped about 4 inches from my head, and the other tire actually brushed my right foot.

I was 8 at the time. I was so startled I couldn't walk properly, I was in a complete daze for about ten minutes.

Once in a 1988 Dodge Omni (tiny car) I fell asleep driving. Crossed center line and hit a flatbed sod truck head on. When I realized what was going on the dashboard had pinned my legs to the seat. My head was bleeding so bad I couldn't see through my glasses. I was pretty sure at that moment that I wouldn't make it.

When I was about 10 or so, I was hiking on cliffs similar to those below, closely after a rain storm, slipped on a rock at the edge and felt like I was gonna go over. Been scared of heights ever since (but I love roller coasters?)

    Once.

I was a junior in high school, and driving back from a golf tournament. I wasn't sure how to get home, so I was following a teammate who was driving the car ahead of me. It had been raining that day, so the ground was very wet. As we were getting on the on ramp, the guy in front of me floored it. I sped up trying to keep up, and hit a huge puddle. I hydroplaned and didn't even realize it. As I turned the wheel to merge left, my car continued straight. I caught a dry patch with my front tires slightly turned and spun out. I did a 180 and start sliding sideways across 3 lanes of traffic facing oncoming cars. I realized I dodged a bullet by not getting hit, but that's when I realized that I was coming to the median...probably about a 15-20 foot downhill drop to the traffic going the opposite way. I figured my car was going to flip over and I was done. But luckily, I slid down the hill and stopped before I went into the part of the highway travelling the opposite direction.

Extremely scary stuff...I thought I was going to die at some point during that whole ordeal.

I took a bunch of PCP one night ten years ago. I started tripping and sinking into the couch. These girls on both sides of me were looking at me with this terrible expression. Then I threw up. I tried to stand up but i lost my balance, I couldn't walk. I had to have my buddy help me out of the club and drive my truck home for me.

My chest was so tight it felt like I had a ton of weight on it and my heart was racing. I couldn't swallow. At this point I was hallucinating very hard. I saw an airline jet flying beside my truck then disappear into thin air, but it's outline remained for a few moments.

For the entire hour long ride home I could barely breathe and at that point I decided that I was going to die that night.

A description of PCP I read afterward said it was characteristic to have a feeling of impending doom, while on the drug. That's the understatement of the century. So, I don't know if I was relly close to death or if it was just the feeling of impending doom, but nevertheless that was some crazy shit.......

Be very cautious with that shit.

Coming around a gradual curve, late at night, about 10 miles from home I was approaching a bridge I had crossed many times before when all of a sudden the Mack truck that was coming my way had another huge tractor trailer pull out to pass. I was driving my friend's little Gremlin and he was next to me. When that second truck came out into the passing lane, we were dead men. There was absolutely no place to go. I knew that the bridge had just been widened because of a higway project in that area so I steered over toward the bridge wall and tried to keep the car from hitting the bridge and rebounding into the oncoming truck. We were both probably doing around 60 mph and that adds up to 120 mph pretty fast. I scraped the front right fender slightrly but we held on for dear life, yelled a couple of mild expletives, and rode it out and made it past.

Only think I can think of is this past December, the takeoff on our flight back home from Florida to Detroit....I really felt like he was going to clip the ground with the back end, I've never felt in danger on 20+ flights, this takeoff sucked..

When I was about 5 or 6 I was at a small town fair riding the carousel. When got off I had my hand on the horse and touched the fence that goes around. Something was not setup correctly (huge understatment) and it started shocking me so bad I could get away from it. The carnie had to literally kick me free. I pissed my pants and was really embarrassed.

I was kicked in the head by a horse in middle school. I didn't really know what happened until I woke up, but that was fairly close to dieing I think. I was in the hospital for a week and both of my eyes swelled shut.

Also, I was at boyscout camp sitting on a dock by a pond. Someone pushed me in, but my shorts got caught on a nail in the dock. I was hanging upside down from the dock with my head under water struggling, until my shorts finally ripped. That sucked...

I had a truck that was pumping liquid nitrogen into a well catch fire. I don't know if I was in real danger of dying, but all of the ingredients were there.

During my days of laying natural gas lines...I was only there about a month...and the operator split a gas line in 2 when he was uncovering it. That was about the most intense moment I've had. Something as simple as a static discharge or a car driving by could set off an explosion.

many years ago, back in high school...driving (probably too fast) on rain-slicked road...the car in front of me stopped suddenly...wasn't paying attention and lock up the brakes. Flew off the side of the road...just missing the proverbial telephone pole. Ended up wheels down in a muddy field; luckily just put her in 4Wd and drove her right back out and on the road.

Definitely a happy ending to what, unfortunately, is a story we hear all too often about teen drivers who were not as lucky as I.
Aside from an unexplainably muddy car and an extreme case of the shakes, got off unbelievably lucky. Also, my then girlfriend was in the car, and I sometimes think how terrible it would have been to have hurt someone else from my recklessness.

If I were on PCP at the time I would have jumped over the car.

PCP isn't a good club drug, it's a "I want to die and/or punch through a fence" drug.

I'd guess 8 or 9 years ago on the 4th of July I was out dicking around on my 4 wheeler (not wearing my helmet) on government property along the Licking River. I had it pegged at full throttle on a dirt path and hit an unfortunate bump that sent me flying through the air. Not sure how long I was knocked out but I woke up about 15-20 feet away from the bump and the 4 wheeler was about 10 feet past me. The 4 wheeler was busted to hell so I had to push it back to the road and then walk about 2 miles back to my house to get the truck to pick it up. I went to my grandma's shortly after that and she was cleaning out some of the scrapes/cuts on my back and said I had tire marks up my back on to my neck so at some point the 4 wheeler landed on me or ran me over. I imagine I was pretty lucky to survive that. Would've taken a while for people to find me, too.

I had one other near death experience that I don't remember. When I was 5 I was heading home from Bible School with my friend and his mom and she lost control of her truck going around a corner. I didn't have a seatbelt on and was thrown from the truck into a field while the truck started to roll towards me. It stopped on its side about a foot or so from me. One more tumble and I'd have been pinned under the top of the cab.

I was 5 years old and my dad was driving my brother and sister to school. The ride to the school was about 4 minutes and one turn.

Well my brother didn't shut the door all the way, this was before the car told you doors were still open. My dad took a left hand turn and I flew out of the van onto the road.

My dad said I went pretty far rolling and received some scraps/bruising. As I look up a huge semi is coming and luckily slammed on his brakes before ending my life.

My dad bought me doughnuts and chocolate milk so I wouldn't tell my mother on him.
