Speed Dating. Anyone Done It?

  • Upper90
There is a speed dating fund raiser. I'm VERY opposed to this. It's another branch of my job, so I feel like I'll be asked to participate. I probably wouldn't have said no anyway, despite wanting to, but now I'm probably locked in for this.

I honestly didn't even know speed dating was real, I thought it was just something used for comedy in movies. So, it's also a dilemma because I won't be taking this seriously at all, and I'm just banking on the fact that 95% of the other people will be there strictly for the charity as well.

So, does anyone have experience with this?? is me dreading this warranted? I'm really awkward in short bursts. I do my best work over long periods of time.

Been married nearly sixteen years, so I missed this era.

If it is a division of your company, and you feel compelled to participate, may you volunteer to help the functon itself... rather than be a participant?

I tried that angle, they actually just need more men to participate, they have far more women than men signed up so far (which I suppose isn't at all shocking.) I haven't been officially asked yet, I just know that I will be. And since it doesn't really go against any morals that I have, I'll be a good sport.

I'm just not expecting to meet the girl of my dreams. I also don't know the details (i.e. how long you have with each person, how many people there will be, etc.)

Well, if you have to participate (for the cause,) go at it with the correct attitude. Look at it as an opportunity to meet new people, possibly make new friends, and if you really do find someone attractive.... you can piss down your leg like the rest of us, and not even be able to think of your name. LOL Good luck.

I agree, have a good time with it. You never know what could happen. This way, you can do it, while not having to admit you had to resort to speed dating! :)

I prefer roofie dating.....I always win.

Mantooth, you should sign up for this. I'm pretty sure at least ONE stripper will be included in the field of women.

I would dred this activity with nearly every fiber of my being...but

Tell 'em your name is Sven in and converse with them in your best Norweigen accent.

Seriously, not taken to heart this could be fun.

Now you are speaking my language.

My dream is to hook up with an amish stripper.

Upper- you should eventually post the details when and where it is and the cost... you might be able to get some huddlers to sign up. (not me since I'm already taken! :) ).

I took a bunch of speed and went on a date once. Dinner, drinks, and a nice walk, all in just under 45 minutes!! I recommend it.
