At what age is it no longer considered child abuse but assult??

power itk421, I try. But he plays me like a fiddle. One minute you think he's doing great and has his act together, then he does something really stupid. He's very slick at getting people to do things for him. That's why it's so frustrating when he pulls this crap.

See, power i, everyone has a talent! He's very slick at getting people to do things for him.
Truly, though, you have my sympathy. -

Pretty sure you might be at risk there. Just because they'd look and say "okay, this guy assaulted someone, it happens, he seems to love his kids though. Oh, it was his son he assaulted, we need to get those kids out of there before he turns on them the bastard!".power i wrote: So if I kick my 19 year old's ass, I wouldn't risk my other children being taken away from me? -
THE4RINGZI went to Canton today. The roads are pretty, I mean really clear. Sounds fishy to me too that he can't drive back due to the road conditions.

Would they look at it differently since I'm his mother?I Wear Pants wrote:

zambrown, I guess that's one way to look at it. It's just really hard to tell him no. It's like he walks in the house and the next thing I know I'm handing him a twenty. I think he puts some kind of black out grip on me and forces me to do things for him. -

Nope. They refer to any woman who commits assault as a man.power i wrote:

Edit: Also, I apologize for the manly reference, mam. -
THE4RINGZWhat's the worst that can happen? You go to jail for a little while. Nice time away from the rat race of everyday life. Plus, based on the movies I have rented about women's prisons they seem to take a lot of showers which is cool. And there is always that one guard who seems willing to do favors for the inmates.

CenterBHSFanSo, since he doesn't have a job or money of his own, naturally you're fitting the bills for everything.
However, your house/your rules. If his 19 year old butt doesn't like it, he can always move somewhere else to try somebody else's patience and how that will work out for him -
power iHis dad told him to stay in Canton, quit school, get a job at a gas station, knock the girl up and move in with her parents. He was just a little upset with him this morning.

hang_loosePower i, Cut one of your apron strings and send him out on his own for a while. When he comes back, write your own set of rules for him to abide by.
Tough love is harder on parents than their kids. But you've got to be a parent first before being a best friend. When they respect you and your house, then you can be best friends.
Good luck Power i! Don't be afraid to be a hard ass if that's what it takes. You're not teaching them a thing if they know they can take advantage of you. -

The only A he is probably getting is ass from that new girlfriend. You should take him to the bar, buy him a beer and congratulate him.hog hauler wrote: He has taken a few days off college to visit his new girl friend in Canton. Must be getting A's. -

He was sent out on his own. He's a freshman at ODU and lives on campus. Unfortunately he feels the need to come back into town (we live half an hour away) several times a week. At first I thought he was just homesick, but now I see he's working us all. Goes to Grandpa's for lunch, stops by my work 'just to say hi' (always leaves with a twenty which is my fault). It's just kinda hard to tell him to stay away. I really think he needed to go further away to school. He went there to play baseball and ended up having his second shoulder surgery in November, so baseball is done. I think he's kind of lost now with nothing to do. (And here goes mom making excuses for him!)hang_loose wrote: Power i, Cut one of your apron strings and send him out on his own for a while.
