Watch an Ohioan in the Olympics Today!

  • SnotBubbles
Bellefontaine native Louie Vito will be participating in the Men's Halfpipe (Snowboarding) today. The quarterfinals begin at 4:15 pm.

Louie is one of the few people in the world who can pull off the "double cork." That is the move that got him there. However, it has been raining in Vancouver and it will be hard for him to do it cleanly with the conditions.

Louie's dad owns the radio station I worked for. They're a great family that resides here in Bellefontaine. Louie grew up, and learned the art of snowboarding at Mad River Mountain, just outside of town. The entire town is plastered with signs, billboards, and banners of support. It's really quite neat for this small city of around 13,000.

We thought his appearance on Dancing With the Stars was big...obviously this takes the cake!

    Go Louie!

Where is he based out of now, i.e. where is he doing most of his training? I'm assuming he is still not at Mad River. :D

Nope...has a lodge up there and that's where he practices. :D

He's actually living in Utah now. Can't remember the name of the city.
