Anyone ever been to Madison Square Garden?

  • jtownclassics
I'll be in NYC from this Fri-Mon and on Saturday ill be going to MSG to watch the Knicks play the Thunder. Has anyone ever been there for a Knicks game, or really any event at all. My tickets are actually in a suite, and I was curious what kind of view I'm gonna have.

No, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

The suites are typically at the top of the gym. I've been there a few dozen times or so, sometimes in the nosebleeds but mostly with good seats. It is a "historic" stadium, not necessarily a great one. It isn't big enough to have any views that are bad per se, but if you want convenient restrooms and decent concessions, you ain't going to find it at MSG. It was built in a different time.

That's the food/drink order form for the suites. Looks like I wont be eating or drinking anything at the game.

I wanna make it there one day for the Big East tournament.

Not a bad seat in that place. I went to the Dreyfus Classic in 05 when Duke beat Oklahoma.

You will be up there in the suites, but they are still close the action. The venue is pretty small for all its publicity. Very intimate.

Nathan's is right across the street, be sure to get a dog before you head in. Enjoy

Ewok, exactly what I thought when I saw this thread. Alot of times, the first two round games are not sold out and it looks like you could get pretty decent seats. Probably a better chance of seeing Pitt play there than at the Pete. Is it worth a quick tour if someone is in the vicinity when there is not an event going on (like a history room or something like that?)
  • Manhattan Buckeye
Dthane MSG is part of a complex, you have the main auditorium, the theater (where the NFL draft used to be held), and underground passages to Penn Station, the subway line, underground shops and if my memory serves me correct, a K-Mart, I'm not sure if there are any tours when there are no events going on but the "old" Penn Station was razed years ago, a pity since supposedly it was a great architectural building.

I have a buddy who wants to go...$500 for a session (2 games) on the first day of the tournament. So basically you get to see two of the worst games of the tourney for $500. As the tourney goes along the price goes up.

Damn! I guess I shouldn't complain about the prices at the Q.

$81 is just a little pricey for a pulled pork sandwich!!

I'd like to get there once for an event some day

500 is probably a stubhub price for tickets. That is artificially high. You could scalp your way into the opening session for 100-150.

Also, as fans teams get eliminated they tend to sell so target the teams fans who look to be going home.

Been there many times, mostly for Rangers games (I hate the Knicks). Also caught the riveting NIT tournament a few years ago when Ohio State played in it (Websurfinbird almost fell asleep next to me, it was admittedly a very lame atmosphere).

Like MB mentioned, the suites are atop the arena, but any seat is decent at the Garden. There is a decent sports bar called Stout NYC right next to the Garden, great place to pregame too.
