if that is not a generalization, then i dont know what is

i was born in raised in upper arlington...as about as white collar as you get...gettin my BS in Biology with chem minor...dipped for 4 years now...
It's a hypothesis; a proposed explanation of an observed phenomenon that can be studied and either proved or disproved by quantifiable data. In my observations the majority of people I've encountered who use smokeless tobacco work in low income jobs or are less educated, or come from families that were less educated and low income. I'm not saying it's true, just my observation, and if studied and tested, I believe would be proven to be correct.
I would argue that all forms of tobacco are used most by people who are less educated and have low income. Whose buying all the cigarettes at the gas stations, convience stores, and little market stores licensed to sell cigarettes? More often than not, it is not the white collar guy from the suburbs.

One more thing, I have noticed from my travels and life experiences that tobacco products are used most in states that rely on the crop heaviest. Kentucky, North Carolina, TN, and even parts of southern Ohio are major producers of tobacco. If you look at the national studies and go to those places you will find more users of tobacco products than in most other states.

I can drink an occaisonal Busch beer if I were to stop by someone's house and that was all they had. (My favorite beer is free beer). I would, however, pass on a natty light.

I wouldn't consider it a class thing as much as a culture thing. I know a lot of people from my town that dip, and it is middle class. A lot of people on the baseball team would do it also. I don't do it but I wouldn't say it is a poor thing.
