What Would You Have Done?

  • Stiffman
My wife came home from the gas station asking where's my cell phone. She was asking because she called from the gas station to tell me that a young guy cut in front of her to get gas. She was on one side of the pump waiting and he was on the other. When my wife's side opened up, I guess he gunned it from his side and swooped in on her. She was upset and called me to get me to come up there to kick his ass. I told her that I wouldn't have done that.

Don't get me wrong, you mess with my wife and family, I'm in your ass straight up. However, this young punk (because that's all he really was anyway from her description) didn't harm her or disrespect her honor. There's only two things I'm fighting for: protection of well-being and honor, and neither was in danger tonight.

I think my wife was disappointed briefly, but she's knows I'm down for her when it matters.

Would any guys on here have actually gone up there for a throwdown? Ladies....if your husband called, would you have gone to fight for him?

    No, it's gas.
  • wes_mantooth
Nope. Guy was an ass, but that is not worth getting into a fight over.
  • iclfan2
No, and I can't believe your wife actually called you to come beat some douche up for cutting her at the gas station.
  • Upper90
No, and I find myself agreeing with iclfan....more and more, which in and of itself is frightening (1/2 joking)....but, seriously, your Wife called you for that?

If I was married, and my Wife called me for that, I wouldn't WANT to laugh, but I probably would. No one in their right mind would assault someone over cutting in for gas, so I'd say you would have made the correct choice.
  • Upper90
Plus, how close is the gas station? could you have really even made it there in time?
  • Puddle Jumper
No, because if he is that big of a prick to do that he may be dumb enough to pull out a pistol or knife as well.
  • justincredible
I agree, not worth getting in a fight over. Wasn't worth calling you over, either. I would have called him a dumbass if he did it to me, though.

My wife is "off the chain" when she gets that attitude going. Surprisingly, she wisely opted to say nothing to the turd because had she said something to him (and rightly so) and he disrepected her, then it would have been a different story (had I heard my phone ringing anyway). I have indeed responded to such a situation like this before. A fight didn't break out, but that's only because the guy, who was older was trying to "mack" from a pay phone at 7-11 and wasn't all that interested, so I just told him to leave my (then first) wife alone and went back home. Then again, that was when I was young, dumb and...you know the rest.

I'd tell her to block him in and I'll be there in 5. See how long it takes for a call from the police.

    YES, she did!

YES, I did laugh. That's probably where the brief disappointment came in.

    DON'T MESS WITH TEXAN'S!!!

How sharp are your wife's keys? ...just wondering...

I wouldn't go if my wife called me. But if he did it to me, I'd be in his face.

    She's from Arkansas!

On another note, there was a story last week of guy in his late 20's or early 30's in Wylie, TX who was beaten to death by a group of guys (the oldest was just 17) for telling the 17-year old to slow down his driving in a residential neighborhood. Some words ensued and the guy went and got his brother and a few others and they went back and beat him. All have been caught and are in jail now, but some things are just not worth it. To me, this was one of those that were not. I'm kinda glad I missed that call.

Oh, the gas station is just .4 miles away, less than 2 minutes.

    do his best friend

(what is the ruling on bringing over huddle sayings such as this?)

Good god man!!!! Your wife wants you to physically confront people who annoy her at gas stations? My ex was high-maintenance, but she still never did that. Hell, she once begged me to not confront a dude who said something to her that pissed me off because she figured if I went at him, he'd get his brothers together to gang-pummel me.

I'd lay down the law before she gets the bright idea to sic you on someone who brings a knife or gun to a fist fight.

That's just nasty ts! I'll leave the "fudging" to you.

Maybe your wife should just mace whoever pisses her off.

She could have used cell phone to start static electricity spark, igniting gas, pump, and whole station into fiery inferno, then drove away laughing as the impatient dbag and his ride went up in the explosion, shoutin "enjoy your fill-up" as she drove off.

    Or not.
    Just a thought.

LOL! I'll tell her to do this next time.

I wouldnt have called my hubby, I would've taken care of THAT myself.. : )

but no , in a serious sense.. yea he was probably young, stupid, and a prick..and why pick a fight with a moron like that.. just to in return have the cops called, assault charges, etc.. over a ditch in line.. people are asses, but just take a step back, breathe out slowly.. and don't stoop to their level.

on a side note: what the heck was with the story at the FLYING J about the two guys that pulled over to have a smackdown? one dude threw a punch, and was out! that story was so conflicting, I think I read 3 different stories on the SAME thing.

No, my wife would have bitched him out and then told me about it when she got home.

I'm sorry Earnest. All my post means is that if you mess with my family, I'll beat you up. And I'm not JJ, I'm DJ.
