Gasoline shower

  So I was filling up my car yesterday and the nozzle clicks like it is done. Me, not really paying attention, pull it out, only to find that it is still very much pumping gas. The gas goes pretty much everywhere (especially on my clothes). After running my car through the wash, I drove home and promptly threw my clothes in the wash. One time through, nada, still smells like what I imagine Mike Rowe smells like all the time. Two times through, same thing. I finally decide to just soak the clothes for a few hours and then wash, still nothing. I finally called my mom and she suggested vinegar soaking with the detergent for a long time, and then washing. So I am trying that now.
  
  I wouldn't mind too much to throw the clothes out (I have lost almost 20 lbs since the first of the year, and my jeans are pretty old anyway, but I have a jacket that I got when I played golf at St. Andrews with my dad three years ago that I absolutely love.
  
  If the vinegar doesn't do the trick, does anyone know any tricks to getting the gasoline smell out of clothes?
  
  
  Febreeze Auto seems to have worked on the inside of my car, thank god.

  Don't have 'em in Massachusetts anymore. Always pisses me off b/c I can't clean my windows while it's pumping.

  Soak your clothes overnight in a solution of Coke and Vinegar. Line dry for a day.
  
  Then wash the clothes using a few cups of baking soda instead of detergent.

  You know what's funny? I think that is the only website with how to get the smell of gas out of clothes on the internet. I already looked through it, and am trying some of the suggestions.

  Wash your clothes and add a two liter bottle of coke to the wash.

  A place I used to work with in the middle 90's had done away with those click things when I was there. We were told it was an OSHA safety/environmental issue.
  
  We had to fuel anywhere from 20-35 trucks each evening on our shift. They click/locking mechanisms were taken away because of the 'just in case' situation that if you used it and werent around the pump and it malfunctioned you wouldnt get fuel all over the ground.
  By pumping it by hand and standing right there ya had to hold the handle.
  
  really sucked and took so much onger. Some people, not me of course, just used an empty can of chew, or a smashed pop can, to put in there to keep it going so ya didnt have to hold it. The pump did stop like it was supposed to
  
  Coke is good for alot of things....cleaning toilets....etc..........just not for drinking of course....
