The Office 2/11......."Manager and Salesman"
-
ou1980I finally callled" Jump the Shark" after last weeks episode....here's this weeks...
-
ou1980Dude, I 've tried.....hell, I want to.
But I have yet to even crack a smile at tonights episode. Three seasons ago I would have been on the floor halfway through a show.
This show sucks....
Oh, bet you that at the end of the episode we find out that the manager makes more $$$ than any un-capped salary salesperson. -
BigAppleBuckeyeAgreed man, this is just brutal to watch. I watch "The Office" on syndication at 6:30 pm on TBS, and it cracks me up ... wow how this show has fallen.
-
SageI haven't watched this episode yet, but some of you guys take your comedy pretty seriously, which is unfortunate.
I mean, all shows go downhill (EXCEPT FOR THE WIRE WHICH ONLY WENT UP), but if you go into something thinking OMG THIS SUCKS WOW I HATE THIS... then... chances are you will hate it. -

Yep, I am writing a letter to NBC right now, followed by sending a package filled with Anthrax to Steve Carell. Oh wait, no I am not, I am just posting an opinion on a message board. My bad.Sage wrote: I haven't watched this episode yet, but some of you guys take your comedy pretty seriously, which is unfortunate.

baseballstud24I thought there were some funny parts...I think things will get better now that Jim is on sales again. Now we'll get some Jim/Dwight pranks again.

Ok Dwight....last time I checked this was a discussion forum which allows members to post or make comments about as stupid as topics as they want them to be, not to be taken as seriously as you think we are trying to make them.
As for this show, I have been a fan since day one. I don't think I have ever seen a show go as downhill so quickly as I have this one. Now, are there more important things in life? Absolutely, and I can come here and vent with fellow huddle's who may or may not share my opinion. -
QuintThis episode was a lot better than the last two.
-
SageLol. No need to get upset guys, I was just pointing it out. You guys are on here every week claiming the show sucks... but there you are the next week.... watching and complaining.
Seems a bit like masochism to me. -

I am pretty sure this was the first time ever that I posted on an Office thread. Just saying. I may be wrong, but I think so.Sage wrote: Lol. No need to get upset guys, I was just pointing it out. SageThat's fine.
You can't deny these types of threads haven't existed since back on that archaic dinosaur Huddle. -
wes_mantoothNah, these threads have existed for the last couple of years for sure. I haven't watched the last couple of episodes(I watched about the last 10 mins of last week's). I will eventually catch them, but this show has ran its course, I think. Like Sage said, all shows go downhill, so I am not surprised.
-
ou1980Good question. I guess I keep watching hoping this show will get better, kind of like the way Michigan fans react every year they play Ohio State.
Its all in the writing imo..
They just brought in Kathy Bates to play a fake southern accent CEO of a "copier" company who happens to be best friends with Nancy Pelosi......ha-ha? -
SageYea, I mean, I watched some episodes on TBS and it's easy to see that it's gone downhill, but I still watch. It's good for a laugh or too, at least for me anyway.
-
jordo212000Yeah the show has definitely went the wrong direction. I agree with ou1980 this show's demise came very quickly. I was watching some episodes of Arrested Development today and it is amazing how much tighter the writing was for that show, in comparison to the Office (mainly the Office from the past 2 seasons, I'll put seasons 2&3 of the Office up there with any tv show). I'll still watch the Office every time it is on, just for the hope that it returns to form.
Was there any question that the new storyline of Jim becoming the only manager was going to last 10 minutes of one episode? For a show that is struggling to be funny, you'd think they would capitalize on that. You could have at least made it go an episode or two where Michael longs for the perks of being the manager, or messes with Jim the way Jim messed with him when Jim was a salesman. -
BuckeyeBlueThe show has definitely dropped off. I feel like its been a downhill slide since the end of Season 4. That being said, The Office in its present state is still better than a lot of the other stuff on television. Unfortunately, I'm beginning to look more forward to Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock on Thursdays than The Office.

SageSunny in Philadelphia has held the Comedy Crown for awhile and probably won't be relinquishing it for a few years.

I thought the same thing haha..it really doesn't bother me if it's not as funny because I still like seeing the general direction of the cast.Sage wrote: U guys r crazy. This episode has me laughing pretty good. -
End of Line
Me too, I laughed in tonights episode a couple of times, it was a hell of a lot better than last week. The cast is moving in a good direction with the characters I think.DeyDurkie5 wrote:

vdubb96I thought tonights episode was solid. Of course it isn't like it was a few seasons ago, but I'll still watch every thursday.

Manhattan Buckeye'I feel like its been a downhill slide since the end of Season 4. That being said, "
Season 4 was tough because of the writer's strike, never really had any continuity, but the first 3 seasons should be called The Office 1.0 and the last two seasons The Office 2.0, they hardly resemble each other. The Office 1.0 focused on the day to day antics of a soul sucking white collar office atmosphere and looking back it is amazing how few major plot points there were.
It took Jim/Pam 3 seasons to get together, you had the Jim goes to Stamford, meets Karen and then the merger, the respective Michael-Jan and Dwight-Angela relationships, and finally the New York hire, but all of these plotpoints took weeks of build-up and focused writing.
The Office 2.0 is like the Simpsons now, except Michael is Homer and there seems to be a nutty plot point that's brought up and then forgotten every couple of weeks. And the characters have changed so much (when did Ryan become an idiot? When did Andy become shy around women?) that they aren't recognizable from The Office 1.0.
