What would have been the sequel was taken off the table on January 10th of this year.

There will not be one returning cast member coming back including the director Sam Raimi.

This will be a disaster without Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst

the 2nd and 3rd ones were terrible anyway. The first one was the only decent film of the series.

I bumped the other one up, it hadn't had any activity for a few weeks.

It's dumb to do this so close to the other ones. Even if it's better than the others people won't think so just because it's something totally different so close to the others. They should wait 10 more years to do something like this when the recent Spiderman movies are out of people's minds.

It might be dumb to some of you, and I agree the movie will probably suck but it's Spiderman. There is always a whole new group of young kids to market it towards--LOTS of people will still go see this movie and buy it. $$$, that's all that matters.

idk just never cared for any of the new spiderman movies really. I'm glad to see the change.

first three were too much about mj and not enough about ass kicking.

I'm kind of excited about this. I can't believe they had killed off two of Spiderman's most iconic enemies (Green Goblin and Doc Oc) in the first two movies. Does the villain REALLY have to die at the end of every super hero movie? The Joker didn't die at the end of Dark Knight, and that is probably the best super hero movie in a long time. I hope they can go back and make a Spiderman franchise that isn't almost complete garbage. The first movie was good, but the second and third were pretty bad.

That's because Dark Knight was meant to be a PREQUEL, when the Joker had first appeared, you numbskull.

After thinking about this, I think this may actually be a great idea. Spiderman 1 & 2 were both very good, but the 3rd started to fall apart.

They have a great director on board for this reboot. The only thing left is get rid of Spiderman 4 and just call it Spiderman.

I tend to agree with you here.

If it is a re-boot, doesn't that mean that the Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus are still alive?

The movie actually is consistent with the comic book in relation to the Green Goblin. Norman Osborn does die by his own hand. Harry later becomes the Green Goblin as do a few other people.

Where the first three movie differ from the comics is on Peter and MJ. The MJ character in the movie was actually Gwen Stacey (the blonde girl from the third movie). Gwen lived next to Peter and dated Flash Thompson and Harry and Peter had a crush on her. MJ was Gwen's friend and was very stuck up. Peter eventually dates Gwen just as he did MJ in the movie. In the comics, the Green Goblin kills Gwen. The grieving Peter and MJ eventually become a couple and get married. It is always made pretty clear that Peter never got over Gwen.
