I find the files on Isohunt.
I click on them and they automatically start downloading using Bitlord.
I then either transfer them over to my HDTV Media player hard drive or open and watch them with VLC media player(there are others, but this one will open almost any file).

All of these are free of charge...other than my HDTV media player.
Got a link for this device?

They also have a 'live' version where you can hook it up to the net and play youtube videos and such on your TV. I just went to Best Buy and got mine. Picked it up for 80 bucks.

Yeah, and it also supports DTS. I have to use an audio optical cord to play MKV(blu ray) files.

Unless you have the biggest hard drive ever created, there is no way you have 600 movies stored on your computer.

That is more than 1.5 terabytes worth of files. Even at the worst quality I don't think 600 is possible.

Unless you meant you have them on external storage drives.

That is about 2.5 terabytes worth of files.

The movies are usually about 700 mb and with this device you have to use an external hard drive. I have a 500gb drive.

That makes more sense. I thought most new movies were around 2 gb's. When I rip from a DVD they are alright quality at 4 GB, so under 1 must be really bad.
  • GoChiefs
Yes..I have a 500 GB external. That's what you need to plug into the device. That or a flash drive of some sort. 700 MB at DVD quality. The quality has nothing to do with the file size.
  • wes_mantooth
^^^You might be surprised. I notice a little bit of blockyness in the backround especially in dark scenes, but the Media player does a pretty good job of upconverting.

Also, these rips are just the movie, no added features,....no extras at all.
  • GoChiefs
    I've noticed no difference anyways.

The file sized does relate to the quality. For instance, if a movie is burned onto a dvd at 8 GB, then to reach the 4 GB you need to delete things and reduce the quality.

Most of the time when I rip a new movie from a DVD I need to reduce the quality to about 60-70% to fit it onto a 4 GB disc.

Most of the time I can't notice a difference at 60-70%, but if I reduce it below 50 you definitely can.

You guys who are using Demonoid, how did you guys register?

It says you need an invitation code to register. Any chance anyone has one of these?

download frostwire....a free program similar to limewire

after downloading the files either transfer them to itunes wich works best or windows media library and then burn them to a disk using your cd burner software.

if you like hip hop go to mixtapetorrents.com something like that and you can get lots of free mixtapes that are legal to download cause they are free releases...you have to sift through a lot of crappy songs sometimes but there are some gems.

    Unfamiliar with that...what is Newzbin?
  • GoChiefs
Frostfire isn't very safe..just like Limewire. I'd highly recommend you stay away from that.

gochiefs what did you think of the daytona today?....i thought danica was driving pretty slow....nothing she could do about the crash though....i thought they showed her car waaay to much. kindo took away from the race imo

well i dont download a lot of stuff doing media searches from frostwire or from just anywhere.....the sites i download from are pretty trustworthy....i only usually download music
  • GoChiefs
She did ok..wasn't expecting much out of her today. I mean..it's Daytona..and you could tell she was scared as hell to tuck up behind other cars. So obviously she's not going to do any good. For he first race..I thought she did ok though. And yes..definitely too much media attention during the race..but we all knew that's what would happen. Hell..that's the most fans I've seen at the Daytona Nationwide race for quite some time. I'm sure she had a lot to do with that.

I didn't bother reading more than a couple posts.

I use Utorrent. I download from btjunkie.org and demonoid.

I have a sizable hard drive I use to hold my movies, music, and programs. As long as you don't download crap w a low amount of seeds then you won't have to worry about virus'. Once you do it for a while you'll know what to download and what not to.
