The "Gay" Commercials

  • bigkahuna
So I've seen a couple commercials like this before, and they just piss me off.

This is the one where Wonda Sykes tells these boys to stop referring to something being gay when they mean stupid.

The reason it pisses me off is there are no commercials for retarded, which to me is more degrading.

Some other examples is saying something is jewish, and even though this is taboo, I've heard people refer to something as "Niggerish"

Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand those commercials (Sorry had to vent)

Is it wrong to be a Democrat/Liberal and be ANTI-PC??

    Agreed

    Those commercials are gay.

Just because others aren't as actively addressed in commercials doesn't make it any less right/wrong to say.

I have more appreciated for that Wanda Sykes commercial now, because Mr. "16-year-old with a cheesy 'stache" (or however she phrased it) has to be a slightly older mtrulz.

I was an RA in the dorms in college. Prior to the year we had to go through training to help us be ready to be good RA's. A good portion of the training consisted of liberal indoctrination. In other words, a good week or two was spent with the "blame heterosexual white christian males" for everything.

We had a good piece spent on gay awareness. One of the people from the gay organization on campus played a video which he described as something shown on TV which was clearly homophobic and a clear violation of their civil liberties. He said it was such a vile commerical, we would be shocked. He proceeded to play the tape, which ended up being regular a Kings Island Amusement Park Commerical. Shocked, a bunch of us asked what the hell he was talking about. He proceeded to show the tape again, and pointed out all of the families in the video and not one gay person was seen in the commerical. He pointed out it promoted one lifestyle over the other.

I guess my point is people like that and commericals like this does very little to give these people any credibility.

Based on the brain power of this thread, I assume you are all using the mobile devices on your yachts in the Mediterranean in between cavier and massage sessions? haha

To quote Upper ... "wow. Just wow."
  • cbus4life
"Wow" is the only way to describe it.

When did "PC" get changed to include saying any stupid-ass thing you want without being called out for it?
  • mtrulz
    That's soo gay!

All I mentioned is that I'm not a fan of Sykes. She could be talking about anything and I wouldn't listen because she comes across to me as being extremely arrogant.

Several people have just responded with "Wow"

    Do you care to elaborate?
  • Upper90
No, I personally don't, as it's no offense to you personally, but if these commercials just "piss you off" as you state, then any elaboration on my end would be a waste of time.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that these are "bad" commercials. My point is that you don't see the NAACP making similar commercials about the word Nigger, some MRDD board making a commercial about the word Retarded, A Feminst Group about the word Bitch....I could go on and on.

I guess my point is why are there these commercials?

Why does GLADD or whoever is behind the commercials feel that being discriminated as far as name calling is so bad that there needs to be awareness brought to it through advertising?

Or, why don't some of the other parties that I mentioned NOT do similar?

I guess that's what I'm getting at; NOT that they SHOULDN'T be allowed, but why are they.
