  You should read up on why Townshend is a registered sex offender. It was complete bs and he is a victim of an awful blanket law.

  Why is it absurd? Townshend was leading a campaign against child pornography on the internet and has been a big giver to children charities for a long time.

  They found something they didnt like. They require him to register. He was an admitted victim of sexual abuse as a child. Id guess a higher % of victims become abusers than become advocates against it. (I hope I am wrong about him). If he meant well, good for him.

  If I recall correctly, he must register because he accessed the site. There was nothing found on his computer or in his home, and as such he was cleared in the investigation.

  the premise of this thread is flawed on so many levels; however after seeing the author it becomes painfully clear....
  
  1. CBS aired Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" without opportunity for censure; if there was objectionable hypocrisy in the wake of that halftime show, it was the work of the FCC and government response to what all now admit was a publicity stunt. CBS's role?......none. They didn't even have a role in producing the halftime show, which you might remember was the work of MTV.
  
  2. The halftime talent is the responsibility of the NFL and NFL productions.....not the broadcasting entity.

That the Who was the choice of NFL productions....reflects the fact that Pete Townsend, like Michael Jackson before him, and Keith Richards, as well as others, have had legal issues that, although perhaps not resolved to the satisfaction of every casual observer, is free to pursue his chosen profession under the laws of both this country, and his country of residence. Whether you believe his explanations for his credit card number being present on a pornography website, his admission landed his registry in England for 5 years in 2003, ending in 2008. Again, how CBS has any role in this is beyond my understanding.
