New Facebook?!
-
ts1227It barely changed. It's not a big deal

LJMine hasn't changed yet and it is starting to annoy me. My 77 year old grandma and my 60 year old father both use facebook and both their accounts have changed to the new setup. The problem with this? They call me every freaking hour asking how to do this and that. I haven't even seen the new layout yet.

I hate change just for the sake of change. I don't see anything new either. I just have to look a little harder to find things.Glory Days wrote: My problem is if they arent going to add any features(i didnt notice anything new), dont change it. all they did was rearrange stuff. -
krambmanI think the reaction is hilarious every time Facebook comes out with a new layout. People hate ti because it's different, but then after a week or two most people like the new features and realize that it's more user friendly than it was to begin with. Facebook knows what they are doing and they know that when they release a new layout that it's going to be an improvement even if not popular at first. I usually hate the new layout for a day or two until I realize that it's a lot better than what we had before. I also find it hilarious that everyone complains about how much the hate the new layout because they liked the old layout, even though they complained about how much they hated it when it came out. Everyone hates it at first, then loves it later once they're used to it and it's being changed again.
It's also very smart for Facebook to change the layout and make changes regularly. It keeps the site fresh and keeps them ahead of the curve. MySpace didn't make many changes or improvements to their site which is why Facebook passed them by. MySpace only made changes after Faceobook did. As long as Facebook stays ahead of everyone else they will continue to be the social networking leader. Every other social network follows what Facebook does. Change keeps the site from being stale and being left in the dust by the next big thing. Reinventing themselves makes sure that they continue to be the ext big thing. -
YtowngirlinflaI don't mind it, but the picture loader was erroring out like crazy when I was trying to upload pics all weekend. Finally got it to work last night.

It isn't change for the sake of change, it's change because whoever designed the last UI needs executed.FatHobbit wrote:

This is more logically organized and probably won't take a shit as often. -

This. It finally switched over for me this afternoon, and I already like the new layout better than the old one. Are there some things I don't like about it as much as the old layout? Probably. But there's more that I do like than I don't.I Wear Pants wrote:

tuskytuffguyI actually hate the facebook layout period. It's a pain in the ass to use, and I hate the shit where you get every goddamn update about everyone on your list. It's nothing but bullshit clutter.

you can hide people and hide stuff like farmville updates and stuff.tuskytuffguy wrote: I actually hate the facebook layout period. It's a pain in the ass to use, and I hate the shit where you get every goddamn update about everyone on your list. It's nothing but bullshit clutter. -
End of LineIt's alright.
-
Glory Daysis anyone's news feed completely jacked up? my most recent tab says there are no updates or if there is an update under "most recent" it is from yesterday.
-
UA5straightin2008mine was like that earlier but it went back to normal shortly
-
Curly JWell they got me today.
-
Ankle BreakerHow do you log off the new layout? It's probably looking right at me but I can't see it.

Top left. -
se-alumLogged on to the new layout yesterday. One question, on the old layout you could set it so it only showed status updates, so everytime I logged in, I only saw the statuses and not 5,000,000 Farmville posts, is there a way to do this on the new layout or do you have to go to status updates everytime you log on??
-
Upper90Yeah, at first my news feed (under "recent news") had updates starting from like yesterday afternoon.
But, now it's in order. -
se-alumI don't want to see "News Feed" at all though, just status updates(which you could do on the other layout).
-
Upper90True, yeah, I did notice that there wasn't that option, which is kind of odd. I just went through and blocked the stuff I didn't want to see (the farmville, mafia wars, etc.), but of course, I still see like photo albums, etc.
-
fortfanIf you click on friends (left margin) and then click on status updates-you will see only status updates....but you have to do it everytime you get on.
-
se-alum
Yea I knew that, I just thought maybe I was missing something, but apparently I just have to learn to like the news feed.fortfan wrote: If you click on friends (left margin) and then click on status updates-you will see only status updates....but you have to do it everytime you get on. -

just hide the farmville and other stupid updates. just move the pointer over to the right side of the update and a little "hide" box will pop up. lets you hide just that application and not the person.se-alum wrote: Logged on to the new layout yesterday.
