Wooster Daily Record promotes FreeHuddle!!

  • Mr. 300
Nice plug by the DR's Aaron Dorksen about our new little Huddle.

Right in the middle of all the H.S. playoff action, a popular Web site for talking sports " jjhuddle.com " changed from a free to pay site. This has not sat well with several area sports fans who have contacted me. Like many other sports writers, I have checked the site before, but am not able to get on it without paying. Fans who contacted me said they're switching to freehuddle.com and asked me to pass along the news. It looks to be an excellent site for fans to go to. Only time will tell which site will prevail.

Aaron Dorksen's weekly look at area, state and national sports appears on Sundays in The Daily Record. Dorksen can be reached at 330-287-1621 or [email protected]

Be sure and send him a thank you!!!

That's awesome. I think now that it's published somewhere, the NSFW forum needs to just go away for good.

Nice. The site is a week old and already getting plugged by a local paper.
  • newarkcatholicfan
    That is AWESOME.
  • OneBuckeye
Was it in the print paper or website? If pint what page/day?
  • Tigerfan00
very cool thing to do and nice way to get the sites name out there to a lot of people

    Got to love free advertising.

It's great but it means a few things:

    1. People don't have to fear the gong here, but use some common sense. If you post a huge rant with several offensive words in it, that doesn't look good for this place.

    2. Even though that copyright scare the other day was just a prank, JC might want to take steps to protect himself and also differentiate this site from the other huddle. As their site falters, they may target this place.

    3. We will probably have to add some content if newspapers are going to be plugging the site. Otherwise they are just plugging an internet message board.

Both!! Today's Sunday edition. It's the article about Joe Norman being inducted in the Indiana University Hall of Fame, which starts on the first page of the sports section, C1, then continues on C5.

I say give that reporter a free year to Freehuddle....ah, nevermind.

Here's the link. The plug appears at the end of the article.

re #1) agree. left a message on the rules page that a rant or post with a bunch of f. you's or f bombs will not be a positive for this site. would like to see that cleaned up a tad. i think it will only help make this site look better and better---gives it more legitimacy in my mind, and I think the mind of the public.

That is really cool. It is amazing how this site has taken off in such a short period of time. And to think it was all because of an uninspired and stupid effort at a money grab.

A shining example of Democracy in action. When not restricted by outside sources, Americans still know how to make a right decision.

It has been extremely exciting for me to see this site grow as it has in just a matter of days, for all the right reasons.

mr 300: gotta say--have had my differences with you in the past---but welcome aboard. hopefully we can bury the hatchet (not in each other) and coexist peacefully, and maybe even amicably! (notice I wasn't the one that gave you votes on the most annoying JJHuddler forum!)

    Fat chance on that!!!!:P

Funny story happened a couple weeks ago. We are eating dinner at the Smokehouse and who should wait on us but the one and only mother of the famous transfer. After chatting with us as she thought she recognized us, she proceeds to tell us she lives out in our allotment by West Holmes. What??? I thought she lived in Benton so her daughter could attend Hiland??? I laughed so hard I almost cried.

Hello!! I have ate at Smokehouse several times since Junior is one of the busboys there. She is usually our waitress when we go there.

Nice mention by Dorkson and thanks for letting us know about it!

What is wrong with just being an internet message board? It's become obvious that the message board was the only thing keeping JJHuddle going. Using high school football as an example, people discovered you could get better information on an upcoming game by reading a thread on a popular message board than depending on an article online or in the paper. Don't get me wrong, content isn't a bad thing or a bad idea (especially if it's good content), but I believe the best content comes from having an open forum with knowledgeable posters.

Databases with historical information, weekly rankings, etc aren't a bad idea, and are definitely something that should be tossed around for the 2010 season, though.
  • CenterBHSFan
Fantastic! Now maybe other newspapers will pick up the trend and spread the word!
  • Apple
    Congrats on the free pub...

Keep up the great work... you (we) have something really cool here.
  • Big_Mirg_ZHS
I might be able to get us in the Zanesville Paper.
  • Tully Blanchard
Which one of you bafoons paid the Dork to put that in the paper?

I agree 100%. No need for that. We can have some good natured fun but let's try to keep it classy.
