Verizon Upgrade time...suggestions

bases_loadedI currently have the original storm(hate it, love blackberry though) like having a touch screen
My options
Droid
Palm Pre+
Storm II -
GoChiefsI've had the Droid for about a week now. Absolutely LOVE it.
-
O-TrapI'm in the same boat. Waiting until I have a job before I do it, though.
-
sherm03If you hate the Storm, the Storm 2 isn't going to be much better for you. They improved the touchscreen somewhat...but it's still far behind the others.
The Palm Pre+ is a good phone. However, the Web OS is not as open as Android...which means not as many Apps for Palm.
I'd go with the Droid...and I'm not just saying that because I work for Motorola. I'd even recommend the Droid Eris over the other two phones listed. -
Woollums9The Tour 2 should be coming out soo, (within) the month
-
wes_mantoothI would also wait a month or so, but buy the Nexus One.....supposedly, it is a lot better than the droid.

I wouldn't say not as open as Android devices just not as mature. Palm hasn't released all of there API's to devs yet but have allowed and encouraged and not fought against the Pre/Pixi community on opening WebOs up with tweaking & what people call "jailbreaking" your Pre.sherm03 wrote: If you hate the Storm, the Storm 2 isn't going to be much better for you. An update will hit the Pre within the next few weeks giving us a mobile flash player(Adobe) and a camcorder(took apple a few years to release) and optimizing of the Operating system with speed increases and battery life. It's rumored that after this update Palm will release more API's because of the release of the Camcorder and use of the microphone.... We'll see though, i really like the WebOS operating system and do hope they make another phone in the near future, the Pre was a hell of a start.
You can't go wrong with an Android phone either though....My wife has the HTC Hero and it's a nice phone, especially once it's upgraded to Android 2.1 in March!!! -
bamagirlThe new set of phones come out in March and April. I have been looking too. I have a curve right now and love it! But I think I want to move to a touch screen. The Touch Pro (I believe) looked good...but when I went to the store they didn't have it out.
-
bases_loadedSo Verizons new batch of phones comes out in March and April? Also the Nexus is that the google phone? If so is it coming to Verizon?

Generally new phone releases come out end of first quarter/beginning of second. So yes, you'll see some new phones released mid to late March and into April at all carriers.bases_loaded wrote: So Verizons new batch of phones comes out in March and April? The Nexus One is the Google phone, and it is a beast of a phone. The processor that's in that phone is absolutely ridiculous. However, right now, it's just being sold as an unlocked GSM phone (you can get it with a contract at T-Mobile for a discounted price...but it's not associated with any carrier in particular on the website). It WILL be coming to Verizon...but probably not until June or July. By that time, the Nexus Two will be getting ready to come out. -
bases_loadedAs much as I hate the Storm, I would rather wait a month or 3 to get the Nexus. I didn't realize it was that time of the year already. The Nexus is heads and shoulders above the Droid right?
-
sherm03I wouldn't say heads and shoulders...but it is definitely a beast. It's processor is crazy fast...and it is sporting an 8mp camera. I would say it's a step up from the Droid...but not a huge leap.
If you don't need to get a phone right away...I'd hold out for awhile because there are going to be a ton of phones hitting Verizon over the next 3-4 months. -

I went to hs with a girl who works at the local Verizon Store, she said the Droids are great for about a month, then they basically turn to shit.GoChiefs wrote: I've had the Droid for about a week now. Absolutely LOVE it. -

She's not right. I've had the Droid since the middle of October and have not had a single problem at all. I can't speak for the Droid Eris...but I can definitely say, the Motorola Droid doesn't turn to shit after a month.Trueblue23 wrote: I went to hs with a girl who works at the local Verizon Store, she said the Droids are great for about a month, then they basically turn to shit. -
ohiotiger33Had the Motorola droid since early December, and I still LOVE it. The big surprising plus to me is the long battery life.
-
UA5straightin2008i havent heard anything but good things about the droid
i havent heard anything but bad things about the storm -
bases_loaded
While I cant speak for the Droid you heard right about the storm. Worst part is Verizon knows they sold a piece of shit and still wont let you upgrade early to even the Storm II which I heard is less than a piece of shit.UA5straightin2008 wrote: i havent heard anything but good things about the droid

She is a woman and thus cannot understand technology, obviously. That statement could not be farther from the truth.Trueblue23 wrote:
