If not, this could be the opportunity to get some. :)

If the wife is someone a couple rungs above you in the work ladder, there's probably a good reason why she doesn't want you to be a regular social caller that has nothing to do with you not being "welcome". Let's say you get a promotion over a couple of other candidates in the future and it's known that you're buddy-buddy with a superior. That's the kind of thing that can look bad for all parties because of the potential for "preferential treatment" allegations.

In other words, like Keebler said, bite the bullet and consider there might be more of a reason than, "I dislike this twit, but I'm friends with his girl, so I might as well bite the bullet and invite him...damn..." for why the person who's your boss' boss isn't your best friend.

Mary and Bob are married. Mary is a VP where I work. Bob is a VP (or maybe even president) for a different company.

I'm engaged to Sally, who is friends with Mary and Bob.
Is he "Smilin' Bob" from the Enzyte commercials?

If so, there might be another reason your girl wants you to buddy up with him, as that might get you a free hook-up.

The names of the people in this story make me very suspicious. Like he is trying to hide something.

Understanding completely why they once to you not to visit and now are suggesting it is acceptable there should be no hesitation to attend. There's is much more benefit in you attending than not.

It might not have been personal, but I'm not really giving her the benefit of the doubt. I did decide to take one for the team. :-/

Mary is mid to late forties. Not hot. My fiance is a family friend and she was just looking for something different for the summer(s). I'm not sure why the hell she wanted to come to Ohio. She would take their kids to the country club and just hang out for the summer. They also partied quite a bit.
