  • cats gone wild
Where do you go and where do you recommend? With this bitter cold, makes me look forward to camping. Just bought me a 27 foot camper at a auction and cant wait to use it. I want a permanent spot on a lake for my first year. Any ideas?

East Harbor is my favorite spot, but they dont do seasonal.Im not going to spend $900 a month, lol.

No help with the permanent spot but Hocking Hills never gets old with me.

Parents have their camper parked permanently at Lost Hollow Campground in the Hocking Hills.

I go a few times a year, love it. Usually we camp out at a bunch of the fresh water springs here in Florida.

That's not camping. That's the redneck lodge!

Im close to Sandusky. I wouldnt mind somewhere between Port Clinton and Vermilion. If worse comes the worse, i will get a spot at Pleasant Hill lake. I got jet skis, and there's not too many places I can ride them. Im off a good amount during the summer so I wouldnt mind even if I had to travel a short bit.

We like to refer to that as Lake Slope when camping. I like it because you are actually in the woods and not some open field but you will roll to the end of your tent.

You're a little far away but Ceaser's Creek State park is nice campground and a beautiful lake.

I just go out into the woods with a pocket knife, a toothpick, and a bottle of whiskey.

    Fun times.

I'll pass. If I was meant to live primitive in any way, I would have been born in the early 1800's or something.

I love to go camping. We'd go as a family when I was a kid and I still try to get out at least once a year... usually more. I've been all over the USA, from South Padre Island in Texas to South Bass Island in Lake Erie, the Wind River mountains in Wyoming, to the Porkies in the UP, to the beaches of South Carolina and Florida, to the Smokies, to the cliffs on the shore of Maine, rafting the rivers of West Va, in Yellowstone and the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico... and of course, numerous state parks in and around Ohio... and my own back yard(s). Doesn't matter if it's "car camping" or backpacking... it's just awesome to get out into nature.

It would be fun to have a FreeHuddle camp-out sometime!!

Haven't been for a few years, but there's a really nice campground in Loudonville. Camp sites are right on the river and there is a canoe livery on site.

I go once a year with another Huddler (who was my college roommate). This past year, another Huddler joined us. (We didn't meet through this or JJ)

We go to the Eagles Camp Ground just north of Bellefontaine. It's laid back, you can do just about everything...it's clean and they have concerts every Saturday. Would recommend it to anyone.

I'm sure I will be going much more this year with my oldest son. He got his first tent for Christmas!
