Updating VHS tapes to DVD

  I have a huge amount of VHS and Hi8 tapes to convert to DVDs.
  Has anybody out there done this? What type of computer program did you use? What do you recommend? I've seen several on the market at BestBuy, but am looking for someone who has experience changing these over.

  I have to do this at my work almost on a daily basis, granted it's from a VHS that was just recorded. Not a purchased movie. I do know that some movies, Disney especially, have copyrights on them that do not physically allow this. There is a way around it, but I have NO IDEA how.
  
  But at work we use just a off the shelf DVD/VHS combo recorder that allows you to dub. We use a Sony model, around $200 purchased at Best Buy. Also plays VHS and DVDs.

  You can do the VHS tapes pretty easily yourself with a vhs/dvd burner. It all depends on how you wire it. I set mine up so there is an input and an output between the tv and the vhs/dvd and just record what is on the screen as the vhs plays.
  
  I have a Panasonic model that I got for Christmas three or four years ago.

  If the VHS is rather fuzzy with the DVD be any clearer???

  My parents did this with all of the family home videos from the 80s and 90s.....My dad did it all in about 2 weeks, and it only required him to just start the next one, the machine did all of the work, then he would throw in some more.....He got the machine for less than $200 (this was over a year ago)

  The easiest way is with the DVD recorder... prices have really come down on them. I got a copy guard remover from Radio Shack but that was a long time ago... might be able to find one online from a place like B&H Photo and Video.
  
  oh and Mr. 300, the DVD will only be as good as the original recording. You may want to try getting your eyes checked too.

  The copy guard remover...does that take care of the Disney movies?
