Any freehuddlers live in Pittsburgh?

  • Non
I lost my newspaper job in Florida in December and I'm considering relocating back up north. One of my leads so far is with PNC.

Just trying to get an idea.

    I know...ha ha...why would anyone live there? :D

Looking for some recommendations as far as housing. Thanks.

Are you from that area Non? When's the last time you have been back there? I am from Pittsburgh, graduating from USC high school.

I'm from Youngstown and have visited Pittsburgh thousands of times but mostly for sporting events on the North Shore.

Last time I was there was over the holidays for the Ravens/Steelers game.

Still not sure the best areas to live, though. I don't really care if it's in the city or suburbs, looking for like a middle-class area with condos, something like that.

South and North Fayette are pretty reasonable as is Moon Twp out near the airport. You have other small towns like Imperial and Robinson that aren't too bad either.

May I suggest something if you plan on buying, try to stay in Washington county, Allegheny county taxes are ridiculous.

Good Luck with that. Ive heard PNC was cutting 5800 jobs in the near future.

They already cut jobs by closing a ton of processing centers and restructuring them. Their buy out of National City has produced a real need for mortgage loan officers and underwriters, PNC is hiring for those positions right now.

non, what exactly would ou be doing at PNC?

customer service, I applied for several different positions so I'm not sure which one exactly yet

I talked to an HR rep already and have just been getting the ball rolling, trying to find a good fit

can't be worse than the newspaper industry lol

I still have a lot more research to do and I've applied at about 40-50 other jobs (at least 12 in Pittsburgh).

So whether this is the company I work for or not, I'd still be interested in hearing about places to live.

If you're young and like going out, I would suggest living in the South Side. That's where I currently live and there are about 30 bars within walking distance.

Traffic is a bear up there, Rt 19, McKnight and Babcock can be an adventure. Same thing can be said from out in Squirrel Hill, Swissvale, Monroeville area (parkway east). Although, I guess trying to get in to the city from any destination can be hectic. Nice places though.

I lived in the Imperial/Oakdale area for a while several years ago. As Rock said....a nice place to live.

There are so many little neighborhoods in the city. I guess that's what I'm not sure about.

Just make sure you avoid the hill district.
