Fab1bHorrible!

hasbeenI'm very torn with the idea of suicide(i.e. my opinion on it), but for a kid to do it. It's just sad...
-
KrugliackWow...what must have been going on in his mind...So sad
-
trackandccrunnerVery sad thing. I can kinda imagine the things this kid was going through/thinking to do this.
-
Tiger2003Wow this is such a sad story...and the school nurse should not be held accountable on this....
-
darbypitcher22I read about this and I didn't believe it at first... can't believe that happened..
-
pepperpotHard to believe...prayers to all involved..
-
Upper90This makes me incredibly sad.
-
september63Very sad. It sure puts things into perspective. I mean we are privilaged to be here each day, even throwing harmless barbs at those willing to throw them back!
-
jt_13Extremely sad and my prayers go out to the family. On a different note; how dare the woman psychologist on CNN say "I hope the school nurse can forgive herself." For what? Allowing the child to use the restroom? I highly doubt the woman being interviewed knows all the facts of the case, and for her to assume that the nurse was somehow at fault for not knowing what the boy was about to do is incomprehensible. I can only hope she can forgive herself for making such an assumption.

tk421I didn't watch the whole thing, but what exactly does a 9 year old hang himself with in a school bathroom?

Here is my 2 cents on the matter of TV, Video Games, Music influencing kids to do shit like this. It's BS. Violence has been on TV, in music, and in games since the start of time. Hell even a basic game of cops and robbers was violence right, shooting each other? The difference is when I was a kid parents didn't let you plop your fat ass down in front of a TV or video game, yeah we had those in the 80's and 90's, and use that as a babysitter. They also told you the difference be reality and fiction. Now a days parents use the computer, tv, radio, video game system as the babysitter. They have no clue what these kids are surfing on the net or watching on the TV and when they do they don't explain to them what is reality and what is fiction. Today's world is sad. I go from school to school refereeing and all I see is mostly overweight lazy ass kids and their over weight parents, if they even come to their kid's event!!ccrunner609 wrote:DeyDurkie5 wrote:

Prove that? Prove that gratuitous violence on TV and video games doesnt desensitize young kids and fill their heads with acts and ideas?
I am around this age kid everyday, 100's of them. It start alot younger then 9. I see 6 year olds daily repeating what they hear on the radio and what they see on TV. Little kids dont play anymore on the playground, boys walk around and act out violent acts on each other all the time instead of playing games.
As for that picture, I sat there and watched that sick display on TV and my 11 year old daughter had way to many questions that needed answered. At least she got a clear head from me, how about the 100,000's that didnt.
I had a 4th grade student attempt this act last year and a JH student do it 2 years ago.
Dont call me out on this one, you will lose.
Now is that what caused this? I have no clue what was happening in this troubled soul's mind. This is tragic but to blame TV, games, music, etc....to me is flat out nonsense. Someone has to be the barrior of right and wrong, reality and fiction and that is the parent's job!! -

I was wondering the same thing.tk421 wrote: I didn't watch the whole thing, but what exactly does a 9 year old hang himself with in a school bathroom? -
dancinbearThat woman child psych is an f'n moron. I work with depressed kids every day, with mood disorders, etc. and you can't just assume that a kid is going to lock himself in the bathroom. I'm sure if the kid told the nurse, "hey, I would like to lock myself in the bathroom" that she just might have asked why. I don't think the nurse was in the wrong in any way shape or form here....forgive herself. Good God.

why cause your a teacher? kids like the one who killed himself just have mental issues beyond what they see on tv/video games. Something must have been going on in the family that led him to this type of depression. Killing people on video games has no correlation to wanting to commit suicide you dense fuck.ccrunner609 wrote:DeyDurkie5 wrote:

I agree this is a legitimate debate, and I'm very opinionated on it, but this thread isn't the place for it. I don't think. The debate is political, this thread is about the tragic events in this story.DeyDurkie5 wrote:
