How many beers before you're really drinkin?

Manhattan Buckeye"I drink a lot of Newcastle and I have a large stockpile of Yuengling Lager and Yuengling Light Lager as well."
umm, Yuengling is an east coast drink, not the midwest. If you're going east coast you have to go all in! -

I'll also have some Genny Cream Ale every now and then as well. -
HereticGENNY CREAM ALE!!!! Get off this site!!!!! I had that once the night before a trip to Toronto. I essentially put a hotel bathroom out of commission for all of us after a GCA shit. The smell even disgusted me!
After that ugliness....as to the question, I don't look at quantity as a barometer as to if I'm just drinking or if I'm getting ripped....I look at the clock. I have a pretty high tolerance, so for me, it's more of an "am I starting to shut down at 1 a.m. (or midnight....or 2, depending on when I had planned to get up) or am I still going strong?" sort of thing. I might pound over a shortish period of time, but go to bed reasonably early. Or I might pace myself forever, but wind up staying up until the crack of dawn. -

LOL...........way to dodge the question. I would have replied the same way. The answer was, It all depends.......?

cbus4lifeSo you guys drink every night?
-
j_crazyi have 2 beers a night usually (though recently I've upped it to 3 because LA has gone to 10 oz. cans). when I hang with my neighbor I have bourbon and coke because that's what he drinks and were at his house.
once i'm at 6 beers its a party. or 3 bourbon and cokes. -
Swamp FoxYears ago, I would answer this differently, but as time goes by, we change. Now, if I am drinking a beer, that means I'm really drinking. If I'm drinking two, then I am binge drinking. When I go to my local establishment for an afternoon of frivolity and football or basketball, two is almost always my limit. Now I suppose I should tell you that at my "establishment" Happy Hour beers come in 20 oz. football game type cups.... but I still pace myself and I usually eat a deli sandwich while I'm there also.

BORIStheCrusherDepends on what I'm drinking; I pretty much only drink craft beer and a lot of the stuff I buy can have a pretty high ABV. I drink often, but usually just 4 or 5 beers or so is when I'm feeling good. If for some reason I wind up with some Bud Light or something, I could put away a case before I'm drunk.
-
Fab4RunnerI can have 3 or 4 and call it a night. More than that and I just want to keep drinking.
-
miller45452003I usually dont drink during the weekdays, but when myself and a few of my pals get together for our once a month outing, I'm good for about a 18-24 pack of Budlight. It then takes me roughly 4 days to gain soberness. Football season is another story...tailgating on Sundays in Cleveland for a Browns games is a disaster usually w/ liqour involved.

Gblockdepends on what im doing.... sunday when theres no football i usually dont drink. during football we will go to the filling station usually and i usually stay from 1pm till 530 or so and will have 8-9 beers and 1-2 shots. monday is poker night i usually have 8-9 and two shots. tuesdays we usually do bw3 and ill have 2-3 220z drafts. if we dont go to bw3 i dont usually drink. wednes day usually happy hour so ill have 5-6 beers and a shot. thursday if theres no football probably only 1 or 2 or none. friday and sat easily 10-12 and a few shots.

capninsanoAfter 2 I'm in binge mode. I hate to waste calories by drinking six beers and not being drunk.
As for hangover limits, 10 is when I start dealing with slight hangovers the next day. -
stroupsI try to stay under a six pack if I want to be productive the next day. Once I go over it will probably range anywhere from 12 to 24 and I will wake up feeling like shit.

se-alumIf I'm going to drink on a weeknight, I typically just grab a 6-pack to make sure I don't go overboard. I don't do leisure drinking well!
-
Con_AlmaA glass of scotch is plenty.
More doesn't mean more appreciation of it for me. -

I agree on the time thing, but my point is if i drink more than 8 than i start to rationalize (drunkenly) the time at which i'll go to bed and how i'll feel in the morning. I know if drink 8 and get 7 hours, i'm gold in the morning. but if i drink more, i find myself saying, after about 15 beers "oh i can get to bed by 3, get 5 hours of sleep and i'll be alright".Heretic wrote: GENNY CREAM ALE!!!! I agree with that. Ten years ago, I could do the "bed at three, five hours of sleep" thing. Today, if I go to bed at three after a long night of drinking, I'm not going to be up until noon.This_DJ_3 wrote:I agree on the time thing, but my point is if i drink more than 8 than i start to rationalize (drunkenly) the time at which i'll go to bed and how i'll feel in the morning. THE4RINGZI drink typically 8-10 beers a night. On Sundays during the football season I will kill an 18 pack no problems.
Never have hang over issues with beer. If I mix in a shot or a mixed drink, I am hurting the next morning. My body processes beer very well just can't manage liquor.
"My body processes beer well" = positive self-talk to my liver. -
jpake1I don't think there is a set limit. It's more of a mood thing. Before I start drinking I'm either in the casual state of mind or in the shitshow state of mind. I can kill an 18 during casual state of mind and people won't know I'm drinking. I'll be 3 beers in during shitshow state of mind and people will know it's on.
