Question for Guys Regarding Child Birth

  • Heretic
I shouldn't have opened this thread at the office. Between Upper's and Sleeper's posts, it's all I can do not to laugh really loudly, alerting others to non-work things I'm doing at work.

It was 100% my wifes decision for both our children. She went natural but I'll bet if we would have had a third she be on drugs. He was 10lb 3oz.
I may be stronger than most women but to all the mothers out there I know your tougher!

my wife was going to have our child naturally, and she was dialated to 9cm's when they decided she had to have an emergency c section. so she ended up getting an epidural anyway. I personally thought she was nuts for wanting to do it naturally.

Using no chemical assistance, my mom pushed out me (12+ pounds at birth) with no problems, my younger brother (11 pounds) with no problems, and my older brother (9+ pounds) with no problems.

So until any of the women on here pop out three watermelons, I don't want to hear a bunch of bitching about "Oh no, this 5-pound lightweight is SO PAINFUL". Drop the kid out and go make a sandwich.

    LOL...pretty sure she's not pregnant.

I could care less as long as the baby and mother are both healthy.

Both of my children were delivered "naturally" by my wife. I didn't think my wife was nuts. The first child was pretty tough on her because of the length of labor. The second was quick but more painful...said she. It's why we haven't had another.....yet that is. ;)

If no marriage, this man doesnt even have to be on the birth certificate, let alone say whether or not she should have the drugs. She can list whomever she wants as the father! lol

My wife had 3 C sections, so I cant say either way, but its her choice.

i think we both should get one....i know i will probably be either sick and about to pass out or feeling the pain with her. but who knows no kids for me yet. knock on wood!

Mrs Squirmy had both of our children with an epidural. It certainly was a mutual choice with us. The opportunity to endure breathtaking pain didn't appeal to either of us(especially her:)). No intervention was needed with either baby and we home the next day. One thing I can say about the natural method, women have amazing "forgettors" over time when it comes to the pain of childbirth. If you decide to become a mother someday, don't allow guilt to get in the way of pain management. Parenthood is an amazing journey. Before I became a dad, I a) hated kids and b) had no, zero, zilch, nada desire to settle down. Now I wouldn't trade Mrs Squirmy or the kids for anything. I know with me the party life became a little empty after a while. Believe me, I could stay up all night and drink anyone, yes anyone, under the table. Enjoy! Hope this helps.
