Favorite Classic Arena Rockers

Saw where Styx announced a tour stop in Toledo in February at the Lucas County Arena...sharing the bill with REO Speedwagon, I heard. Brings back a lot of memories via the way-back-machine!

There's been a lot of musical styles and genres come and gone since those rockers first hit the road...made me think of some of the other long-ago corporate rock acts of the late 70's and early 80's. I saw Kansas towards the end of their original run, in Columbus, and Styx during the "Paradise Theater" tour, but I really cut my teeth on the "punk" and "new-wave" stuff that arrived as a direct alternative to that slick, corporate, over-the-top production that seemed to bog down at the end of the 70's. However, I must admit, I kind of like hearing some of that old stuff now.

Anybody else with some favorites or concert memories among these old dinosaurs?

I'm only 21 but about a year ago I went to a Lynyrd Skynyrd/Hank Williams Jr concert in Columbus. Justin Moore opened for them with his hit "I could kick your ass".

    It was a great show!

I saw Boston, Foreigner, Journey, REO and Styx in their prime and they were all awesome. I grew up in th 70's and saw a TON of concerts and it was certainly the best era to do so.

The first rock album I ever remember listening to was my dad's Thin Lizzy Jailbreak album. I had to have been about 5, and it's stuck with me ever since. The entire album IMO is very underrated. Every song seems to follow a common trait, like the album is telling a story, not many albums do this.
    Jailbreak
The Boys Are Back in Town
    Emerald
    Cowboy Song

    my favorites on that album.

Saw all seven - in their heyday, no less.

Heart, before Ann Wilson blew up and the band shifted to softer rock and ballads. After Roger Fisher left, the estrogen just became too dominant. :)
