What do you think of the new Halloween II?

  • MANAZE
I just watched the new Halloween II and I'm not real sure if I liked it. Was the movie "real" or was it a dream by Lori? Does anyone have a take on this movie?

I thought it was absolutely horrible. I was lukewarm on the first Halloween remake and I liked the Devil's Rejects, but I thought this one was a laugher.

Also, Rob Zombie was really reaching on finding a role for his wife in this one.

I am bias I loved it. Big Rob Zombie and horror fan. It was real and not a dream by Lori IMO.

The first Rob Zombie Halloween was great, this one sucked, I was highly disappointed.

^^this. Had nothing else to do while sitting here with a sprained ankle and decided to watch. I love the violence and the gore but the storyline just made me shake my head. He should have stopped at the first one.

    Horrible compared to the first.

I'm a huge fan of the Halloween Series...probably my favorite set of scary movies.

I thought that Zombie's version of Halloween was pretty good, but I really hated his take on Halloween II.

I know he wanted to put his own spin on things, but he completely ruined the movie, in my opinion. All that white horse stuff might have been well-intentioned, giving us a look into what Michael sees, but it was just too weird and unnecessary. And I completely agree with mantooth...Zombie tried WAY too hard to find a way to put his wife into the movie again. Pretty ridiculous.

To answer the original question about Laurie, I also thought it was supposed to be real, rather than a dream. I think the ending basically means that she ended up being kind of like Michael...it was sort of "a family thing", so to speak.

A lot of the same here....really like Rob Zombie and his horror style. Liked his first Halloween more than most people I know who are horror fans. Have very little good to say about this one. The end was good, though predictable, and it just didn't seem like he really got his vision across...or everything seemed so contrived...I don't know, just really flat and I was disappointed.

I thought I read awhile ago that he didn't really want to do this one and maybe it had to do with some creative restrictions they were trying to put on him? I wonder if then maybe he rushed it through once they talked him into it?

    Awful.

The story line of the doctor was ridiculous... going after fame? Are you serious? Stupid zombie twist.

The first portion where the girl was in a hospital being chased by him was a dream. The second portion of the movie was real.

    Horrible movie...

Completely forgot about the hospital part...maybe that's what MANAZE meant in the original post when he mentioned the dream.

Agree with you about Loomis going after fame. It completely contradicted everything that he's supposed to stand for in this series of movies. He's the guy who works his tail off to try to keep Michael from killing. In Zombie's version, he couldn't care less, as long as he makes money from the book. Incredibly dumb.

I saw it in the theater and on dvd because some friends rented it.

The theater version ending was different than what the dvd showed.I think that might be why Manaze is confused.

In the theater version,Michael killed Loomis in the little house and then Laurie killed Michael. Then she walked out of the house wearing Michael's mask and the next scene she is in the mental hospital.

The dvd version was basically the same but Loomis and Michael die outside the little house and then Laurie picks up the knife and goes to stab Loomis and the police shoot her and it appeared she was dead until they show her in the mental hospital. The dvd version does make it seem that it was just a dream as it was poorly put together but since it's a Zombie movie.I wasn't very shocked.

The first Zombie Halloween was "ok"... Not great, not bad, but ok.. I don't mind swearing, but good lord this movie was kind of ridiculous at points..

I haven't seen the 2nd one yet and I'm not really in any hurry too... None of them will touch the originals.

I haven't watched it yet but I plan too, love Zombie's movies even though most of the reviews on this one wasn't good.

This one was absolutely horrible I liked the first one and the way it depicted Michaels slow decent to insanity. This one was like a bad acid trip.

I liked the first one but I wanted to get up and leave the theatre in disgust over what he did with II.
