Its official!
Conan O'Brien is leaving NBC effective this week, just as we expected...
Leno will go back to the good 'ol days hosting "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" at 11:35PM...
$20 says O'Brien ends up at Fox -
WebFireLet's hope!
-
gerb131Still sucks for Conan. He is better suited for late night stoner jokes anyways. But the guy did put in his time and deserved a little more of a chance.
-
derek bomarLeno fucking sucks
-
Laley23I for one am glad. Conan deserves/ed better and hopefully Fox will give it to him. NBC made a mockery of his talents with the restrictions they put on him and then not allowing him to find a groove with those restrictions. I mean, 7 months? Really? What a joke. I hope Leno fails miserably and Fox takes over as late night king (if and when they hire Conan).

ou1980Question....
How the hell does Jeff Zucker, President of NBC, still have a job?
He is last place in everything, from Prime Time to Cable News MSNBC...
And this fiasco occurs, costing the company AT LEAST $200 MILLION IN AD REVENUE...All in just 7 months. -
DESCENTdmcConan was hilarious last night dogging on NBC any chance he got. One of his better shows since his original time slot
-
cat_loverConan dogging on NBC and Jimmy Kimmel ripping on Leno on Leno's show was very funny.
-
ohiotiger33If Conan moves to Fox he will be able to be a bit more edgy. Bring back the masturbating bear!
-
hoops23If Conan goes to Fox, I'm on board!
-
killdeerGood move by Conan. He can do much better...and hopefully be free to put on a bit more free-wheeling show on Fox. If he is able, he should negotiate an ownership/production company deal with Fox which would give him control and financial cache on the new show.
An interesting discussion...how does Leno just go back to 11:35 as if nothing happened. Is his show, and his reputation to some degree, a bit tarnished by the whole thing? Won't he, and his new-old show continue to be fodder for late-night jokes for quite some time? Does he regain the top spot in late night, or will we find his time has passed?
Personally, I think his second tenure on Tonight will be short-lived...and a new NBC-Universal chairman will be looking for a new Tonight host within 18 months.
I'd love to see someone give Tina Fey a shot........very savvy, witty and timely humor, not to mention a bit of a looker. -
ZeroCool^^^^^especially since palin has a fox gig now. thats gives her enough material for a series. lmao.
-
2kool4skoolI'm guessing O'Brien goes on Letterman's show sometime within the next couple weeks. Which could end up being the best 15 minutes of television ever.
While I feel bad for O'Brien, I think this whole ordeal has finally exposed Jay for what he is, and thankfully I don't think his reputation will ever recover. -
ou1980Remeber the whole Letterman/NBC/Carson/Leno ordeal back in the early 90's...???
Made for a good TV movie called "The Late Shift"
I wonder which scandal is bigger, that one or the fiasco that we are currently witnessing...
I guarentee this scandal gets made into a TV movie by HBO or whomever -
Swamp FoxI'll give you that nothing stays the same forever, and yes, Leno is getting older as we all do, and for some reason, getting old seems to be a crime punishable by suddenly becoming less competent at what you do, but since Carson left, Jay has pretty much owned the Late Night Ratings Wars and he wasn't nearly as successful being on at 10. Now all I seem to hear is that Conan wasn't given a fair chance (7 months?????) and will be so much better later in the evening. I'm not saying that Conan won't eventually win the ratings wars. He may do it right away. If he does, the younger public has spoken and so be it, but to me, being younger doesn't make a person funny. Being funny does and I just don't think the man is very funny. I will give you that he is marginally better than when he started. I think Leno will be alright either way. He's probably got enough money saved up to sneak by.

Mr. 300Good jon Conan. You got the shaft and have made the right decision. Fox is the best network at the moment, so take your talents there.

Be NiceI just never did like Gonad and his show.

It was a strange announcement then and it looks pathetic today! -
ohiotiger33I think Fox would be dumb not to pick Conan up. He could get a huge devoted following after this whole thing.
