Conan O' Brien Trys To Sell "Tonight Show" on Craigslist

Thats hilarious. In all of this mayhem the last few weeks I have really enjoyed all the shows (daily show, colbert report, conan, letterman, kimmel, fergusen, etc) They are all absolutely killing NBC and I cant get enough of it!

Yeah me either.... I cannot stand Jay. He sucks when interviewing people and he only has a couple good skits "Celebrity Jeopardy" & "Headlines" and those two it's the random people that make it funny not him. Conan is just classic

I've always like Leno's monologue and bits. But Conan is much better at interviews. I hardly ever bothered to watch Leno's interviews.

It will be interesting to see how Leno's ratings do coming back. Right now NBC has a gaping hole at 10PM for a lead-in. I would guess he is not going to recover his old ratings. Better than Conan, probably, but will it be enough to justify the move?

Saw Howard Stern was considering going on the Tonight Show this final week with Conan. Don't think he is going to do it, but apparently he has a lot of bad blood for NBC and Leno. He even mentioned they might not allow him to go on. But they were saying Conan wants him on to go down in a blaze of glory. I'd would LOVE to see that.

What's interesting to me is ratings have obviously spiked, but Conan has also been better. And I don't think it's because of the juicy material provided so much as he's not allowing himself to be as handcuffed by the earlier time slot, making it clear that the big mistake was trying to make Conan something he is not.

Moving Conan to 1135 was a bad move. He was always too "edgy" for that time slot. I think NBC is making a mistake here though. This was all handled very poorly.

The Leno video from 2004 posted on another thread was interesting. Have to agree with comments from Howard Stern - Leno didn't want to give this up, but was forced to because the network was thinking much longer-term to keep Conan. However, I'm not sure I buy the argument that Jay really sabotaged all this by putting on a crappy show, which was a bad lead-in for the late news, which in turn was a bad lead-in for Conan. Personally, I think people have their favorite late local news and the lead-in doesn't really matter in a significant way.
