Anyone collect autographs?
-
YtowngirlinflaI really like to do this as a hobby and since I'm trying to save money by not going out much or drinking on the weekends I was thinking about starting up again. Just curious who on the huddle does this and if they do, which websites etc do you use.
I was just about to sign up for www.startiger.com
I used one a few years ago that was all sports. It was really good.
My best autograph has to be John Wooden on a Floor Board.
He also sent a bunch of other stuff signed. All within a week and a half from sending it to him. -
thedynasty1998I understand why people do it, and my dad has quite the collection.
But personally I don't get it. -
Crew LoveUsed to do it quite extensively, but stopped around the time I entered high school. Generally, I just wrote to players in care of their team's stadium/arena.
My prize piece through the mail is (was?) probably a Tiger Woods signed Sports Illustrated. -
GoChiefsI collect NASCAR autographs. Got quite a few of them. Richard Petty has to be my favorite one. Mine are all 'personally' collected though. I don't mail in for them or anything like that.
-
darbypitcher22I've got some good ones. Haven't gotten anything lately though that's been really noteworthy, although my sister got an autographed Nick Mangold pic from his Buckeye days...
-
Tiger2003My fathers has the most signed shit I have ever seen in one house...His basement is completely done in OSU. His prized auto graph IMO is a picture in Black and White of Bo and Woody.
-
puffyisbackI do it, mostly OSU, but am going to branch into some MMA/WWE guys... 98% of my OSU are in person
-
Be NiceI still sign'em, but they're not worth much.

FairwoodKingLast week I sold an autograph of Jack Dempsey on eBay. It was a menu from Dempsey's restaurant in New York. My parents and I went there in 1962. The autograph is addressed to my father who passed away a few months ago. He was always a big Dempsey fan. The thing I remember most about that evening was shaking hands with Dempsey. Those were the biggest hands I have ever seen. My hand got lost in his. Dempsey was very nice to us. He was a real gentleman. And he was wearing a tuxedo so he looked really sharp. That was a night I will never forget.

O-TrapI did it quite a bit when I was younger. Had some doozies. All were obtained by me.
I sold a bunch of them when I went to college, though. Kinda wish I'd saved them now.
A few prizes:
Barry Bonds autograph on a plane ticket (met him in an airport)
John Glenn on a glossy.
Sandy Alomar, Jr. on a card (actually got to sit down and have lunch with him at Applebee's when I was about 16).
Kenny Lofton on a helmet, hat, and glossy.
Carlos Martinez the day he hit a homer off Jose Canseco's head on a ball.
Ramon Martinez (Pedro's older brother) on a ball.
The only ones I didn't sell I think were a couple of the Lofton ones.
