Thinking about getting the fiancee a Sony Reader for her birthday. Anyone have one of these (Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook are the others)? What do you think? Is it really worth 300 bucks?

I got my gf a Kindle for her birthday this past May and she loves it. She goes through almost a dang book a day so this really saves space in the house of books stacking up!!! I think it is a good deal, I have the Kindle App on my Iphone and read books through there.

Kindle is a nice option, i've played around with them, can't go wrong.

Got the gf a Kindle as well, and she absolutely loves it. Saves money in the long run, and space (as Fab mentioned). The only thing about them is, the next-gen stuff they're starting to unveil looks unreal, and I imagine that eReaders two years from now will be light years ahead of where they are now.

I want a Kindle soooo bad. If no one gets me one next Christmas I am just going to buy it for myself.

Those who have them or have researched them. What is the best one? I have both an amazon and best buy gift card so I am thinking about becoming grown up and I think reading will help me accomplish that. Plus I don't want to buy a reading lamp for my room so I am assuming these are back lit?

Kindle isn't back lit, it reflects light (to prevent fatigue from staring at a screen). Not sure if the others are or not.

Bingo. But, still, it is worth the money even if you only use it for a year or two, IMO.
