  The job has, for the most part, been fantastic. The money will never make you rich, but you know that going in. The problems can be found in the meaningless and time wasteful meetings that are held to instruct us all in the newest and most "innovative" educational philosophies which keep reappearing every ten or so years under a new name but with the same shortcomings that we already saw the first time. The need to give everything a new name, even though you know that this too will pass, and in a couple of years we will shelve the policy again until it appears under a different name, that will not improve an already failed philosophy. The policies that create all kinds of excuses for bad student performance and creates for the teachers mountains of paperwork and repeated make-up assignments for students who have learned how to play the game. We have developed an educational program that has lost sight of the fact that while many students work hard and are very responsible, we have enabled the student who knows he or she no longer has to do anything and will be "passed" anyway, to sit back and do absolutely nothing (except, of course, to disrupt those who actually want to take advantage of their educational opportunities.) In the old days before we attached multiple letters after these students names, to indicate what "problems" were present, we used to refer to them as LAZY. You do that now, and the threat of litigation is instantly brought up. Consequently, teachers and administrators have become
  fearful. before you think I am a heartless SOB that doesn't care about the problems some kids have with school, I care very much. I just think that we need to be more honest with kids and parents. Parents who are only concerned with their kid "passing" no matter how that happens and not really caring about what they LEARN concerns me a great deal. Our policies currently seem to be aimed in the enabling direction and that is going to ultimately fail. Some student have very real and extremely serious learning issues and need all the help we can possibly give them. Others don't. We seem to be concerned with the very good and the very bad. We need to direct our policies at the average student. I think that Lincoln was right. Roughly paraphrased, he said that "God must have loved the common man, he made so many of them". Our educational system has become a game of semantics, enabling, labeling, and fear of litigation. We need to start over and try to do it better this time.

  #1 most annoying thing about my job....the night auditor who works 2 nights a week. I come in after him and he fucks every single thing up every single time he works. I KNOW I will be in a horrible mood for a good 30 minutes while I go around fixing all of his mistakes. If my boss doesn't fire him soon I am going to do it myself....I don't even care.

  Well, you're at the Ohio State University. Why would you ever want to graduate? Besides, work would probably be something menial and boring, like bossing around SEC grads or the like.

  Currently, nothing. I started my new job yesterday and now I can wear jeans and tshirts every day. I am also developing on a Mac now.

  I work customer service....my FAR the worst part of my job is helping people reset their username and password on the internet. Seriously, people cannot do a simple task as writing down this randomly generated password. I try to make it as easy as possible so I give them the random password, I say it exactly how it is supposed to be typed in (it's case sensitive), and people still fock it up.
  
  Write it down first, and then type it in...don't just type it in because you won't be able to see what you typed.

  People with usernames and passwords are impossible. I don't mind it so much when they forget, but I love when they try to make it sound like something else. We have a lady right now who emails us every day to tell us how many times she had to try to log in. She acts like it's our fault she can't type her password in correctly the first time.
  
  We also have buttons for "I forgot my password" and "I forgot my user id" and we get calls from customer service because they can't remember their own user id/password. I have no idea how they help people who call in, when they aren't able to figure it out for themselves. lol
