Pet Peeves of Interstate/Freeway Driving
-
KeithI drive in Detroit rush hour traffic(on the Ford Freeway/I-94) twice a day. Here are just a few...
1. The moron who gets behind you in 70mph bumper to bumper traffic, rides your tail flashing his/her lights at you to get you to speed up. Where the hell do you think I am going to go?
2. The asshole talking on his/her cellphone in the far left lane going less than 70mph forcing you to pass on the right
3. The idiot who putts along in front of you forcing you to pass him, at which point he speeds up wanting to drag race you.
4. The jackass who won't get over one lane to let you merge and then glares at you as he basically forces you into the guardrail.
Just a few examples as to why I think the new 2011 car models should all be equipped with a death ray. -

...I agree 100% but if you have no place to go but into the side of the car passing your, the person coming down the on ramp HAS TO YIELD!pnhasbeen wrote:
But if there is NOT a car in the lane next to you, it is good driving to move over. As another poster pointed out, if a car stays in that lane it doesn't allow the oncoming car to get up to traffic speed.4cards wrote: ...one of my pet peeves is when people come down an on ramp and EXPECT you to move over when they have a YIELD sign at the end of their on ramp. I've had people flip me off when I'm in the right lane and someone is passing me and this dick head will come down the on ramp and actually have to OBEY the law by yielding to on coming traffic and act like it's my fault! -
gorocks99I tend to go w/ the one for one rule when there's a lot of traffic, I'm stuck in the right lane, and traffic is coming on from an on ramp. I'll let one car between me and the one in front of me, and that's it.

ernest_t_bassPeople who ride your arse on a two lane road. You slow down, so they can pass, and they don't. You speed up, they stay on your butt. You slow WAY down, to like 25 in a 55, and they STILL don't pass.

Agreed, also.............as I let my permit holding son drive from Orrville to Akron on Saturday and while on 76, out flew a young woman from the ramp at 65 miles an hour and just barreled in right in front of us. My son was scared shitless and almost over-corrected in swerving to the left and I had to grab the wheel.pnhasbeen wrote:

Again, I repeat, "the person coming down the on ramp HAS TO YIELD!"!!!!!!!!!

NOL fanspeaking of the whole merging thing, ever seen an entrance ramp with a traffic light at the end of it? I remember seeing one 10 years ago in San Diego getting onto I-5. The freeway was packed with people all doing 60+ and here is a traffic light telling you to stop at the end of the ramp and then try to merge in with little room to accelerate from 0 to 60

i think i have seen stop signs like that. and most of the time when there is construction, traffic normally comes to a stop at the end of the ramp where traffic merges. but i dont worry much, thats when i let the Hemi open up a little.NOL fan wrote: speaking of the whole merging thing, ever seen an entrance ramp with a traffic light at the end of it? Plus the field became saturated with terrible drivers when the state started paying for any Joe Schmo to go to truck driving school.nc52 wrote: that's because most truck drivers are now foreigners, mostly somalians -

Western Pennsylvania has stop signs at the top of extremely short entrance ramps. I-70 is two lanes each way, and somehow you're supposed to go from 0 to 70 and merge in less than 50 feet.NOL fan wrote: speaking of the whole merging thing, ever seen an entrance ramp with a traffic light at the end of it? On our way to NJ a couple years back, we stopped in St. Clairsville. I think my exact words were "Go to the bathroom now, because it's 200 miles until the next place that I'll even think of stopping".
