Without the success of the Simpsons, I doubt there is a Family guy.

Family guy...the simpsons paved the way, but Family guy is 100x funnier

This is irrelevant because South Park is better than both.

Depends. Two very different shows. Like someone else mentioned there would be no Family Guy without the Simpsons. There would be no South Park if there were no Simpsons.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone joked about that in the episode where Butters kept trying to come up with ideas, and the Simpsons had already done it.

You can also see a lot of Simpsons influences in Family Guy. I believe Seth MacFarlane has also acknowledged the role the Simpsons played on his show.

Simpsons started it and shows like South Park and Family Guy took it to a new level.

I agree that there would be no South Park without the Simpsons.

At this point right now though, and for the last decade or so, I think South Park has been on average better.

My only problem with South Park is that it is so hit or miss anymore. Lots of good episodes, but some that are just downright bad.

can't beat the old Cartman...he was the best character ever created.
  • stroups
grew up on the Simpsons but Family Guy is better comedy

Simpsons. Family Guy is just a bunch of flashback sequences.

Family Guy has plummeted over the last couple of years.

Peter has gone from a misguided borderline sexist into a complete idiot
Stewie...when's the last time he tried to take over the world? Now he's just a setup for gay jokes.
Brian has gone from the voice of reason to a flaming textbook leftist

And it seems that the writers have thought to themselves, "Hey, a lot of our audience is the 25-34 demographic. Why don't we bump up random cultural references to the 80s to about 60% of the show?"

I laugh my ass off all the time from watching family guy... dont think simpsons ever made me laugh.
  • gut
Simpsons has slipped a lot, but it's still better than Family Guy, which usually sucks.
