TNA Impact 1/4, Hulkamania Returns

ZombieKillerI was just thinking what TNA's plan is.
They want to go back to wrestling of the late 90's. WWE's attitude era and WCW's nWo. -
enigmaaxThe Pope is funny. Orlando Jordan? Could not think of his name at all. He's a star?
-
puffyisbackbest part of the night by far has been hardy on tna and the bret shawn segment on raw
-
puffyisbackoh shit now we're getting a match on TNA
-
ChesapeakeWho the hell that was originally in WCW is not here tonight?
-
End of LineI'll laugh if Goldberg shows up.
-
ZombieKillerRaw: Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton
TNA: AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle -
Trueblue23Angle vs Styles has been a HELLUVA match
-
End of LineStupid ending on TNA.
-
enigmaaxWhat happened after the match? I saw Hogan talking crap, is that how it ended?
-
Elliot StablerWho was the masked man ??
-
kdx200Eric Bishoff will run TNA right into the ground. Vince was smart enough to get rid of him. Now it looks like Dixie has became the trash collector. So it looks like i go back to watching RAW until IDIOT-E is gone.

Mick Foley got beat down by the Nasty Boys in Hogan's office I think.enigmaax wrote: What happened after the match? I saw Hogan talking crap, is that how it ended?
Bischoff gave them 3 minutes then BAM!
Then Hogan walks in and said it was bullshit or something and they went off the air. -
Little DannyInteresting night. Good to see some of the old-timers, but that is exactly what they are-- oldtimers. Is it just me or did Scott Hall like like a larger black haired version of Beau Bridges today (particularly in the face)? My thoughts on last night were it would have been great if this were to have happened right McMahon took over WCW, but it is now about 5-6 years too late.
I have a feeling TNA will utlize the advantage of being TV-14 to push the envelope to places the current TV-PG WWE can't go. Therefore we will get a lots more "T&A", drinking and swearing and simulated porn (hence Val Venis and the ladies playing strip poker). -
IggyPride00The ratings are in and Impact averaged a 1.5 while Raw averaged a 3.7.
All things considered, TNA has to be thrilled because they have been averaging around a 1.0 so that is a good sized increase in viewership up against what was the biggest thing WWE (next to the Rock coming back) could possibly throw at it.
If you are Vince, you aren't disappointed but I was expecting Raw to have a monster number and considering there was no more MNF and you cashed in your biggest chip bringing Hart back I would think he was looking for a little more than a small uptick in their rating.
TNA's big challenge will be losing the amateur hour feel to the show as well as keeping people interested once all of the surprise programming wears off. They can take heart though in the fact that they were not blown out in viewership the way I was expecting. -
tigerballonlineMick got beat down the hall, nash and xpac. Hogan sucks, how can a person with no talent evaluate talent? He did a great job making it about him. I know wrestling has no reality, but come on, to tell Jarrett and Foley that their "shares" in the company have been restructured, and they basically have no say is ludicris. I look for the same crap that ran WCW out of business, a power strggle between hogan bischoff and mick and jarrett. Will have to see which side Dixie Carter ends up on.

baseballstud24I would like to see what TNA got the first hour. Where can we find that?
-
enigmaax
It isn't the actual Nielsen rating, but:baseballstud24 wrote: I would like to see what TNA got the first hour. Where can we find that?
"Spike TV’s TNA Impact! set a viewership record during Monday night’s three-hour special featuring Hulk Hogan, averaging 2.2 million viewers. The previous viewing record was 1.9 million viewers set in April 2008.
The first hour of the special averaged 2.5 million viewers.
Records or not, USA Network’s WWE Monday Night Raw put the smackdown on TNA Impact with an average of 5.5 million viewers from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m vastly outdistancing the the 2 million viewers the TNA Impact! averaged during those two hours."

GoChiefsI don't think anyone thought TNA would be Raw. I don't even think TNA was trying to beat Raw. Just testing out the waters I think. Also heard where they might finally be getting rid of that awful 6 sided ring on the next Impact?

heel023TNA needs to stay away from all the "gimmick" type matches. Stick to what you do best and that's put on great wrestling with matches like AJ vs Kurt.
-
darbypitcher22yeah Vince kind of killed the whole hart thing...

krazie45Once again TNA shows that it is willing to stick to the same gameplan that has kept them in a distant 2nd place since their inception. Their roster is filled with WWE/WCW guys that are either has beens or never was-es. They have 3 guys on the roster that the WWE would want (Styles, Angle, Samoa Joe). Believe me folks, this isn't a rebirth of any Monday Night Wars. TNA is only a step above Ring of Honor. They had a chance in their early days when they pushed the young talent and the X division but it's just a joke now. How cool was it seeing all those guys in the ring? It was a lot cooler 15 years ago. Sorry I was too busy watching hell freeze over as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels confronted each other for the first time in 12 years. TNA built up this big show as the night that changed their company forever and it was a big flop. Sure people will tune in to see Hogan but that's about it. I'm not a fan of how the WWE is now but it's a hell of a lot better than the crap they put on TNA.

Exactly. As I noted above, had TNA started out the week after the takeover, then last Monday night would have been fine. Unfortunately, these guys are way past their prime. It would be like if the Chicago Bulls suited up Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and co. and said they were going to win the NBA title this year. Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are OLD MEN. Flair is in his sixties for crying out loud. -
enigmaaxHere were the quarter hour ratings. The positive for TNA are that they did increase viewership - they regularly pull 1.0-1.1, so the overall rating is nice. Whether they retain any of those additional viewers remains to be seen, but the drop from the Hogan segment doesn't look good. Hogan predicted the overall rating would hit 3.0, so he personally can't be happy. The thing is, and I think the rating shows this, while his name may have brought some people in, his performance didn't keep them there at all. I was willing to give TNA my full attention, especially with Scott Hall on the mic. That segment just wreaked and they drug it out for far to long for nothing significant to be said or done (except for "Hey, yo"). Hogan trying so hard to sell Angle and Styles was worthless because by that time, the only people watching were the same people who would've been just fine already with Angle and Styles (minus Hogan).
