The Ohio Valley has the best pizza anywhere!

  • MANAZE
I would like to see anyone challenge how good the pizza is in the Ohio Valley (Steubenville, East Liverpool, Mingo, Wintersville, Weirton, etc).

We have people come from all over the country to go to the pizza shops in our little area. It is better than NY or Chicago. If you never had "good" pizza make a trip to our little are and you will discover GREAT PIZZA!

Our pizza is normally not a round pizza even though you can still get those at the franchise locations like Pizza Hut. It is a thinner crust deep dish style pizza. All up and down the Ohio River here you can find different styles of this pizza and each has its own unique flavor.

I challenge anyone to a pizza contest of the best pizza from his/her area and our worst pizza would still kick their butt!

Too bad that entire area smells like your ass!!! Never would I venture that way for pizza because my nose hairs are fried from the stench of Stubberville.

I'm from Steubenville, currently live in Columbus. I grew up on Dicarlos and it is great pizza. However, I've had a couple of pies here in Columbus that I would put up against Dicarlos.....but only a couple.

People in New York or Chicago wouldn't eat that river rat garbage if they were starving.

DeFelice pizza, which I think originated in Shadyside(?), won the title of "Best pizza in North America" about 5 years ago. It was featured on the FoodNetwork. The event was held in Italy and DeFelice beat out everybody else, including NY and Chicago.
Manaze, when a Stubby pizzeria can accomplish that, then I'll believe you! ;)

I find it odd that the city in which the World Pizza Championships are held has been spelled 3 different ways. Including 2 different ways on the Avalanche website.
  • GoChiefs
I'd put Pizza Crossing in Logan up against any in the 'Ohio Valley' as well.
  • End of Line
Zontini's in Martins ferry is 100x better than DiCarlos.

Ohio pizza < 99% of all pizza, anywhere. Ohio pizza sucks ass, sorry dude.

Ohio valley pizza is great. There are alot of little plazes like dicarlos, zontini's , carlinis, and bel montes buffalo chicken pizza. I have had alot of pizza from New York and i have still not had a slice of pizza that could touch any that i listed above. I can say the same about Chicago.
  • gerb131
Avalanche Pizza sucked when it was down here in Lancaster, they closed up in a hurry.
Pizza Cottage in Buckeye Lake, Pickerington or Lancaster is where its at.
  • CenterBHSFan
    captvern,

I agree. I've also had more than a few samples of NY, Chicago, and even California pizza - not to mention numerous places in Ohio - to verify that we got the goods!

I love all pizza. I could eat pizza 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. To me there is no such thing as bad pizza, just some is better than others. I grew up in the "Valley" and ate DiCarlo's at least once a week (often more) until I moved to Central Ohio. I love DiCarlo's and have not been able to find anything to compare to it except the knock-offs or copy cats.

That said, I was never a big fan of DeFelice Bros.

Another good one is Home Pizza in St. Clairsville.
  • BigAppleBuckeye
I would put Grimaldi's Pizza in Brooklyn against any pizza in Ohio, and win easily. Here is one list comparing the top U.S. pizza places:

    http://www.americasbestonline.com/pizza.html

It's right down the block from me ... ALWAYS at least an hour wait to get in the door, people come from all over America just to try it.

Too many tourists come to NY, try some crappy $5 slice in Times Square, and pass that off as "New York pizza." Wrong.

Is your problem with the pizza or the fact that big red kicks your ass in football every time they play.
  • RedIs4Heart
Bella Pizzeria in Bellaire is the best, in my opinion. They have the best sauce, it is sweet and thick. Their crust is thick. It is awesome.

STEUBENVILLE dicarlos and Oso's in Washington Pa are also very very good.

I don't have a problem. The town smells worse than the lockeroom at the stadium. What a stench filled hole in the wall along the river.

And our team doesn't play them.

My reply was towards september63. But if the shoe fits wear it. Btw I seen many a player leave that stadium looking like your avatar.
