Xbox 360 or PS3

  • ZWICK 4 PREZ
I had the ps2 instead of the xbox, then bought the xbox 360 instead of the ps3.. the xbox 360 finally took a shit on me after 5 years.
    Should I buy another 360 or get a ps3?

I would go with the 360

As someone going through this dilemma as well I will offer my opinion. PS3 is the way to go. They're the same price now, and while it SUCKS you'll have to repurchase some games, get some resale money from your existing 360 games. I have an HDtv, and the Blu Ray player is worth the difference. Not to mention free online gaming, unlike $50 per year from 360. If I had the option of purchasing either at the same price 3 years ago I would have taken the PS3.

Agreed. The game selection on the 360 is far greater than PS3. Plus, I have heard from a few people and there is even a thread on here about the free internet on the PS3. I've heard from a few friends that the internet isn't as good as the 360.

I'm worried about the quality of the 360.. I literally never played it and still got the 3 rings of death.

I can't complain about the $50/year for XBox Live, Its like $4/month and its 100x better than Sony's online gaming.

In your case though, if you don't already have a Blu Ray player, I'd go with the PS3, but if you do (as I do) I'd go with the 360, better game library, and its not even close.

PS3. It has better exclusives, IMO (God of War, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, etc) and is a MUCH better value with the built in blu-ray drive and wireless.

The "ring of death" was outlawed. Microsoft made their product to break in order to make more money on repairs. Now, when people get the ring of death Microsoft has to repair it for free. Now, Microsoft is being forced to make the 360 to last and anything made before this was outlawed that DOES break has to be repaired at Microsoft's cost.

Then PS3 is an obvious choice.

    PS3,

I don't get where 360 games are that much better. Almost all of the games are the same besides each consoles exclusives and sony had the better 09 for game and should have a better 2010, starting with HOW 3 and GT:5.

The only real difference in online are the xbox parties and launch feature.

I have both consoles and mainly use xbox for streaming netflix b/c there netflix stream is just a tad better right now(until one of the next ps3 updated will make them about even).

I love watching and buying my bluray and picking up the digital copies and putting the movie on my pap, ipod touch or laptop for mobile viewing.

    Ditto.

    For your needs, PS3.

In general I tell people if you want to play a ton of different games, you play pretty regularly, and you play online, get a 360.

    360 > PS3 overall for gaming, IMO.

PS3 > 360 overall for a complete home entertainment package.

I own both the 360 and PS3. I use the 360 fo gaming roughly 6-8 hours per week. I use the PS3 for Blu Rays probably 5 hours per week, and occasionally game....I only own 5 PS3 games compared to 20+ on the 360. I buy all multiplatform games on the 360 because I think Xbox Live blows PSN away.

I'm really looking forward to God of War 3, though.

If you had a 360 then you probably have games already. Just get the cheap version of the 360 and keep all of your stuff from the previous console.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Also, Blu-ray isn't worth it unless you have netflix or something like that.

    PS3.
I buy all Blu-ray movies since I got a BR dvd player in the living room and PS3 in the bedroom, controllers are way more comfortable, free online (I constantly hear how x-box is so much better online, but I play online 90% and have no problems, so I don't know what that's about), can upload pictures/movies/music etc. X-box has good graphics and is fun, but I love my ps3.

    PS3 hands down.

My roommate from college had a 360. He's now on his 3rd system. My cousin has one, he's on his second, his best friend has one...he's on his 4th. My dad bought a PS3 when they were $400. I played that thing every day for about a year (until I moved out)...it still works. Blu Ray is worth it.

FWIW, my roommate cousin and friend all say they'd switch to PS3 if the online play was as good as Xbox's. That's the only reason they still play their systems.

For me, i'm going with the PS3. I only really play sports games as it is so a PS3 with blu ray capabilities will be perfect.

PS3 for sure. If you play mainly the sports games, (I do too) having a PS3 and blu-ray is the best way to go. I don't play a whole lot of games. NBA 2k, Madden, NCAA, The Show usually. I rent the other games I want to play, COD, Uncharted etc. I have about 50 blu-rays too and I love it. I used to have a 360 but I would never go back to it now.

I agree that the PS3 is the better value and better hardware, but it does not have the better exclusives. God Of War will level the field though when it comes out.
  • justincredible
Which is why I said IMO. None of the 360 exclusives interest me. GOW, Uncharted, LBP and The Show are awesome.

What exclusives does the 360 have other than Halo? Left 4 Dead? What else?
  • Mr. 300
The graphics on 360 versus PS2 are amazing. Just got the boys Xbox for Christmas to replace the PS2.

    Gears of War....my favorite game

Also, I think the new Grand Theft Auto addons are xbox exclusive, but I might be wrong about that one.
  • wes_mantooth
Even though I think 360 has the better exclusives, I would buy the ps3. It is much, much more reliable and bluray is the icing on the cake.
