Offal, do you?

    Offal /ˈɒfəl/,[SUP][1][/SUP] also called, especially in the United States, variety meats or organ meats, refers to the internal organs and entrails of a butcheredanimal. The word does not refer to a particular list of edible organs, which varies by culture and region, but includes most internal organs other thanmuscle and bone. As an English mass noun, the term "offal" has no plural form. Some cultures shy away from offal as food, while others use it as everyday food, or in delicacies.
    I had some crispy tripas (cow intestine) the other day. It was very tasty. I have a had lots of Foie Gras which is also awesome. Tripe and sweetbreads are on my list of offal I would like to try.

    I follow a paleo diet but offal is where I draw the line. No thanks on brains, livers, hearts, intestines, etc. Also won't eat lamb.

    Lamb is awesome, why the hangup? I understand why you wouldn't like the others.

    Sweetbreads, when prepared well, are awesome. Had General Tso sweetbreads w/ foie at Haute Dish in Minneapolis last year, 100% amazing.

    I actually like liver, and have had cow's tongue but that is where I draw the line on organ meats.

    Also, beef tongue has to be prepped well to be good. If it's under/overcooked it's tougher than just about anything, but if they can get it tender, yummmm.

    i've had liver and brains, they taste similar.

    The tongue I had was smoked then slow roasted, very tender and delicious.

    mmmmm, dead lamb. A night on High Street at the bars, stumble to the gyro place up the stairs (was next to Subway) and order from the old Greek owner who barely spoke English.

    If I remember correctly, he had some hot daughters who'd occasionally work in there too.

    Love me some strips of lamb, lettuce, little sour cream on a pita.....awesomeness.
    I'm betting another OC'er remembers the place I'm talking about. Talkin' High Street in the 90's.

    This was awesome, thanks for the walk down memory lane. My buddy got chased out of that gyro shop with a baseball bat because he told the owner that "Gyros Suck" haha. But yes, that place rocked, and yes, his daughters were solid haha. Used to come stumbling home from the Cornerstone, CoEds or Panini's and would scarf those gyros, which were like $2 back then (damn I sound old, when did that happen???).

    Love lamb, and have eaten turkey heart, livers & gizzards, but have no interest in expanding beyond that.

    He was there in the 80's too. Good times.

    The stuff I tried that I like are gizzards, beef tongue, and heart. Most of the stuff that is mushy I really cant stand like the brain liver kidney.
