Oops. As if the crappy look of them wasn't bad enough (the picture is of what they're wearing to the opening ceremony, designed by Ralph Lauren)
Harry Reid is pissed at the USOC, saying they should burn them and have them redone in the states
(this is just a quote from the article, please don't turn this into R vs D political).
Is this a big deal to you? -
queencitybuckeyeFucks given: 0.0
-
Con_AlmaIsn't that who Ralph Lauren chose to make them?
-
queencitybuckeye"Reid says the industry is desperate for jobs"
Apparently not enough to make a competitive bid, or produce them as a loss leader. -
Steel Valley FootballWho cares. Our country is close to being over anyway. Just speed it up and get it over with.
-
-Society-I think we found our AAF.
-
Raw Dawgin' itIf you get a medal for looking retarded we'll definitely win gold, silver, and bronze.

We're doing everything we can to recreate JJ's here, so we needed an AAF.-Society-;1224416 wrote:I think we found our AAF. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeI think they look nice, but I definitely do not support an American US Olympic team sporting "made in [anywhere but the US]" clothes.
-
TiernanForget where they were made...wahy did we allow a Gay man to design them in the first place?
-
raiderbuck
Ralph Lauren isn't gay. He's got a wife and family.Tiernan;1224498 wrote:Forget where they were made...wahy did we allow a Gay man to design them in the first place?
side note...dude has a spectacular car collection. Including rate ferrari's and Bugatti Veyron. Back on topic: I don't care if the uni's are made in China. I'm pretty sure if we look hard enough most of the equipment the American team will use is made outside the United States (blah blah Global economy, blah blah blah) -

jordo212000Smh at people who continue to be amazed that stuff is made overseas.
-
THE4RINGZWhen American seven year olds agree to work 60 hours a week in the clothing factory for a dime we will become competitve in manufacturing again.

I think they look terrible. Why do we go with barets? Those are awful.Scarlet_Buckeye;1224481 wrote:I think they look nice, but I definitely do not support an American US Olympic team sporting "made in [anywhere but the US]" clothes.
The price tag on the articles are also ridiculous.
Truth is, American seven year olds cannot make the decision because the government makes it for them.THE4RINGZ;1224632 wrote:When American seven year olds agree to work 60 hours a week in the clothing factory for a dime we will become competitve in manufacturing again.
But...as was mentioned in the corporation thread: these corporations give jobs to people to make money, blah blah blah. That money isn't being made in the US. Nor is that money being spent in the US. -

When did you come back? -
AppleNot to make this too political, but Reid is a fool to complain about the uniforms being made overseas when it was his liberal party that instituted laws and regulations on dyes/apparel that forced companies to move overseas. This is another example of the unintended consequences of feel-good/do-good legislation.
I heard a guy in the silk screen business call in today on WHLO who said there are only 3 companies in the US who are capable of using the dyes and making polyester clothing that would be worn by athletes, and the clothing they make is more expensive than foreign companies... thanks to the over-regulation. -
Glory DaysThat and I wonder if they looked at Reid's clothing what it might say on the tag.

That would have been a great question for one of the reporters to ask.Glory Days;1224973 wrote:That and I wonder if they looked at Reid's clothing what it might say on the tag. -

You are correct on that assumption. I remember when they announced a couple of years ago that the berets for the military were made in China also.ccrunner609;1224504 wrote:unfiforms............hell that flag in the pic was probably made in china
