Direct tv

I just ordered this to be installed on August 8th. According to the customer service lady, they are still in negotiations with Viacom because Viacaom wanted to increase the cost per channel by 30%.

Tis true. Viacom pulled all their programming while negotiating from Directv to make DTV look bad. They have also pulled all their online viewing from their website (for everyone)

    Team Directv!

I'm lucky enough that I can reach my dish with a bottle of Rain-X. It pretty much eliminates the snow/ice/t-storm issue.

I just smacked the dish with a broom. Problem solved.

Fuck both of them. I am really only upset that I don't have Comedy Central right now. But my wife is pissed about not having MTV, and I feel bad for my brother who has a 3 year old and a 2 year old who love Spongebob and don't get to watch it at all.

I hate that DirecTV tries to play the card that they are trying to protect their customers. They don't give a fuck. My rates have gone up four times in the two years I have been with them. At least Viacom is honest about wanting more money and not trying to pretend like they are doing this to help the little guy. If DirecTV really did care, they would be giving their customers a discount during this time instead of offering us shitty Encore channels. I'm paying money and 1/5 of the channels that I watch aren't available right now. But when I called DirecTV to inquire if they would give me a discount since I'm paying for services that I'm not receiving...they basically told me to pound salt.

Fuck DirecTV. Fuck Viacom. Damn the man.

I keep hearing people say their rates have gone up so many times in the last couple years. My rate has stayed the same. Makes me wonder...

DTV is a lot better than cable but they are dirty and corrupt. I almost never lose my signal. For the NFL guys you can get sunday ticket on the PS3.

    *brother's sons
But I agree...put the fucking stations back.

One plus...at least Fox Sports is still available. And with the All-Star Break finally over, at least I can still watch the Reds.

    Workaholics is frigging hilarious.

Just saw a thing pop up on my DirecTV that says there is a free trial of MLB Extra Innings running from 7/13-7/19.

I tune to the one channel and it tells me that I'm not subscribed.

    Seriously...fuck you DirecTV.

Was August 8th the earliest appointment that they had? I'm thinking about making the switch from TWC but don't feel like waiting 3-4 weeks.

I just got off the phone with them. I was told I could get the Choice Xtra package with HD DVRS ( basically what I have with TW) with their internet for like $55 bucks a month. I'm paying over $120 with cable. Is Direct TV really that much cheaper? I feel like there has to be a catch somewhere

You can find just about anything you want to watch online streaming, often live if you know where to look. I can handle the loss of a few channels while DTV plays hardball and I won't miss a show.

Mine wasn't. And their internet is awful.

It starts off at $55/month. But give it 6 months and it will go up. Then it will go up again at 12 months. Then it will go up what seems like every month afterwards.

Seems like the same shit happens with cable. I was told I would be locked in for two years. I know the prices will go up, trying to decide if the ticket is worth it to make the switch

It may be cheaper....initially, but it jumps quite a bit part way through your contract, and if you dont remember to cancel many of the free things they give you for a lmited time it can get very pricey.
Have been through it twice at a place that was to sell it. In the sales meetings they tell ya to focus on what it will cost initially, sign them up for ALL the free trials you can because a certain percentage, I cannot rmember what they told us but it was very high....over 50%, that kept the stuff for up to 6 months after they signed up and for commission that is all ya would care about. Give away 3 months for free......customer then willalmost always wait a few months to figure out why the cost went up but if they got the 6 mo threshold the commision is paid to the company

    I hope DirecTV holds out.

I miss TVLand and a few others, but I can live without them. Just either add new channels or give us a discount.

Sounds like DirecTV & Viacom came to an agreement sometime yesterday/last night.
  • KR1245
They will be here today between 8am - 12. Hope I don't get screwed on installation fees
