trash service

Has your trash bill gone up a lot? (Belly's dumpster diving thread started me thinking) I pay mine every two months, and it goes up about $2 every time. On 7/2010 I was paying $58. My last bill was $73. I don't know what other options I have, but I think I'm going to start shopping around...

From the time I bought my house in 2003 to now my trash cost has probably doubled.

Trash, Water and Sewage are all in one bill.</SPAN>
I would have to look at the break down but you&#8217;re right it seem to go up. I pay around $90.00 to $120.</SPAN>00 per month
I always ask the question how they measure the cost of sewage. It&#8217;s just a random figure or what?</SPAN>
So between the sewage and trash they can do whatever and unless someone ask they keep raising the price. </SPAN>

My understanding on the cost of sewage is they base it on your water usage. (It used to piss my grandpa off because he had a big garden and a big water bill to go with it. He didn't think he should have a big sewage bill too because most of it went into his garden.)

$54 per quater to $120 in 18 years, which if my calculations are correct, is an inflation rate of just over 4%.

In some places, you can meter such water separately, and not be charged for the sewer portion. I think you have to pay for the meter and associated plumbing, though.

Moved into new house in 2007 since that time my water, sewer, and trash (combined bill) has gone up a little over 20%.

Our trash service is separate from sewage and water.

At the local grocery you buy certain bags to put your trash in and put out by the curb. They are a little more expensive than other bags but I guess this way you pay for what you discard indstead of a flat fee.

Trash still only $12.50 a month (after cleaning out my garage I really got my money's worth)

The water/sewer bill is awful IMO. The sewer bill is based on your water usage and is pretty much double the water bill. So if my water bill is $30, the sewer is $60 and totaling $90 per month.

    Ouch.
Our sewer and water is billed quarterly. It is around $110 every three months which isnt bad
