Mac vs PC Debate

I agree though, 2k+ for a laptop is insane.

Yeah, people are comparing the thousand dollar Mac with an inspiron. It is aimed at the same market as xps, thinkpad and other premium builds, do the comparison is not fair.

But at the same time, we are comparing Macs to PCs. So is it not accurate to say you can get a PC laptop for much less than a MBP?

Yeah, definitely accurate. You can also get a Ford Festiva for much less than a Porche 911.

Def accurate.... I am just saying that I think they are aimed at different markets. Fwiw, I have an inspiron i5 and love it. I think it cost 600, but it was bought over a year ago

The new MBP is high that's for damn sure.

Compare the regular MBP line to a loaded Asus or thinkpad. Then try the Zenbooks w/ the Air models. The difference isn't much.
And your point? They have similar specs(actually the Dell has better specs) and costs over $1,000 less. How does it feel to be wrong?

There was a time when the build quality between Mac laptops and PCs wasn't too close, besides Lenovo IMO. If you haven't figured it out I love thinkpads.

But lately they the competition has stepped it up with better cases, hardware, etc. Asus is another brand that makes nice stuff. Even though they have gotten better, I still won't give props to Dell. F that company.
This posts reeks of backtracking and buying into subjective marketing bullshit. I love being right with minimal effort. How does it feel to be wrong?

So you post a top of the line MBP and a run of the mill Dell and you win? lmao...try harder.

I only focused on specs. Isn't it sad you pay $1000 more for a computer with the same specs because it looks cool? Isn't it sad a run of the mill Dell beats your MBP?

lol..I don't even have a 2k+ Mac. Specs aren't the whole story, but I'm sure you knew that.

The computer I posted is more comparable to the 2k MBP in your earlier post, it's a Dell if you haven't figured that out by now. The one you posted was probably aimed more towards 18 year olds fresh out of high school.

We can argue the hardware differences for weeks and the bottom-line is the hardware for Mac vs. PC = more or less the same computing power.

What we're really talking about here is not the hardware, but the OS.

I use both PC's and Mac's. I prefer PC's personally but that's just me. If you want great graphics processing, a Mac is what you need. If you're crunching numbers and words, I'll choose the Windows-based PC every time.

Nonetheless, you cannot argue that a Porsche doesn't cost much more than a Ford.

No doubt, but the point is, when compared to other high end competitor models, the pricing is not that far off. See my earlier post.

PC makers produce lower end, cheaper models to meet all budgets and have endless options. Apple simply does not. It's genius, but it pisses me off. They limit your choices. Either buy their expensive high end product or don't buy it at all.

my pc lasted me 2.5 years, my macs at 1.5 years right now..ill wait a year to make the decision so far the mac is way better than my pos hp that costed the same

I never said it was "superior"

I said the OS is built for the hardware... It usually gives the user a more seamless experience..

My disagreement is that a less powerful Mac can do as well or better than a slightly better spec'd PC.

Both sides have stories like that. We have PCs and Macs (about 55 PCs, 15 Macs) that last 4-5 years and I only EOL them because of age. I also have a few of both that are problems from the day the box is opened.

What are you disagreeing with? My MBP is slightly less powerful than my friends laptop but I'm able to run Diablo 3 on high settings and he's struggling on lower settings... I have an early 2011 MBP with the 2.3 GHz i5 with 8 GB RAM and an integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics card! INTEGRATED!!!!!!!

I believe my MBP was the last model to have an integrated graphics card.

And I know games aren't the best judge on overall performance, but my original statement was regarding that.

Thing I don't get is the complex mac users get tagged with. I love my mac products but you wouldn't know I had a mac unless I told you. Those I know have macs don't act any differently at all. Its complete bullshit, and no I don't drive a VW Jetta either but occasionally the smell of my own farts is ok :)

Oh, we should use your one sample then. Carry on.

I think you're failing the realize that this never ending argument basically comes down personal preference and opinion.

I just enjoy shooting the shit when people make retarded claims. I dominate on both types daily anyway.:D

I agree. I don't dislike Macs. Just don't like when people claim one is superior than the other.
