The length of the books doesn't bother me, I read the first one a while ago and had a hard time following it since there's about 300 characters. In my opinion, the book was just dull a lot of the time, not a lot happened. Rare instance where the TV/Movie is better than the book.SportsAndLady;1187850 wrote:They're too long..i just can't do it -
AutomatikFrom what I've heard the books are a better story and obviously much more in depth.
I'll probably start reading them once the show runs it's course. The signed for a 10 episode 3rd season, not sure about anything beyond that.
It's not thrilling finale I expected. I thought someone would get off'd for sure, but still a good ending. -
SportsAndLady
Yeah that's basically what I meant...it's so long that it'd probably be a little boring for me. I don't need 25 pages to describe a character's outfit. The show sometime gets a little bland w/ no action, I can't imagine the book. I'll pass on them.Commander of Awesome;1188173 wrote:The length of the books doesn't bother me, I read the first one a while ago and had a hard time following it since there's about 300 characters. Manhattan BuckeyeThe first 3 books were awesome - much better than the tv show (which is very good, but with budget limitations can't possibly measure up to the books - the Battle of Blackwater in Clash of Kings was epic in the book, on tv it is a few minutes of ok CGI). The 4th book is passable. The fifth has a lot of flaws - GRRM had writers block for a decade and I'm not sure he can bring the story back.
Back to the TV show, season one pretty much followed GOT to a tee with a few exceptions, there have been significant changes this season and I would expect more if the show continues past the next season. After Book 3 I can't imagine it being film able without major changes. -
OneBuckeyeI watched the first season on DVD and am just now finishing the first book. It is well worth it (from someone who doesn't read much). I think it actually helped to have watched the show first, I imagine it would be harder to sort out the names, familes etc with out doing so. I hope to read the next two books before watching season 2 on DVD whenever they come out.
Also reps to everyone using the spoiler feature. -
AutomatikYes please.

Laley23
Even though the show makes her less attractive than she really is (I think she is smoking), she is still unbelievably attractive on it.Automatik;1188206 wrote:Yes please.

HereticJust don't play the Game of Thrones video game. I got a copy to review and while the storytelling was very good (a lot darker than the average fantasy game), the actual fighting was basically a weak rip-off of Dragon Age Origins. A very weak rip-off. One of the only games I can say I played SOLELY to find out what happens to the main characters. Regardless of which of the four endings you get, it ain't pretty...

AutomatikAll I know is, I better see someone riding a fucking dragon next season or I'm going to be pissed. I thought I would see that this season.

derek bomarAll I want for Christmas is Joffrey to die a horrible horrible death

Commander of Awesome
He's actually turned into a unicorn and leaves to live outside the wall. /spoilerderek bomar;1189104 wrote:All I want for Christmas is Joffrey to die a horrible horrible death -
gutReally, just one dragon would be enough to dominate all in that time. Total air superiority.
-
Anna-TownI'm really hoping some dragon badassery very soon.
But besides the dragons I don't really care for all the other sorcery stuff, smoke people and frozen armies and whatever else is going on.
I may have to pick up the books if I get a little free time because I'm really struggling keeping track of everyone's names.
When does season 3 start? In the fall or later? -
gut
In the meantime, I'd settle for him getting the [back]Hand of the King! That'd be pretty cool. Nothing he could do to grandpappy, either, because the army sure as heck isn't loyal to Joffrey.derek bomar;1189104 wrote:All I want for Christmas is Joffrey to die a horrible horrible death -
imex99I'm about to finish a Lee child book then start a game of thrones.
-
TedShecklerI'm almost done with the first book. Much more in depth than the show, but you realize how close the show is to the book.

Manhattan Buckeye
Correct for the first season. The second season differed in many areas.TedSheckler;1190269 wrote:I'm almost done with the first book. Much more in depth than the show, but you realize how close the show is to the book.
