Bad aunts and uncles.

thavoiceOver the weekend my stepdaughter graduated HS. We held the party at our house for friends and families and such. The date of the party has been known for 3 months.
Dont you think that is AMPLE time for an aunt, and uncle, of the graduate to make arrangments with work to attend the party? Both live within an hour and both didnt make the attempt to make it. They want to say that they are really close, so it isnt like a relative that she doesnt ever see.
It bothered the heck out of me, and I know my stepdaughter was extremely disappointed too. There is absolutely no reason they could not have gotten off to at least show up. Hell, I have alot of nieces and nephews and have made arrangements at work a number of times to attend some important events. Sometimes ya gotta sell out........offer to work two shifts for someone who is filling in for you.
I just thought it was really shitty to skp out on their ONLY niece's graduation party. The next day for the actual ceremony, the one aunt said she couldnt attend the ceremony because...that is the normal nap time of her son.
Complete BS -
ernest_t_bassPics of your stepdaughter? (As long as she's 18).
-
ernest_t_bassAs per the story... Yes, it is shitty. Are these brothers/sisters of your wife?

Yes, it is the wife's brothers and sisters. The one aunt showed up and left pretty early too and that was disappointing. Hell, it isnt my grad party and I felt disappointed for my step daughter. She has been through alot over the years and to have her aunts and uncles who were supposed to be close to her either blow off the party or show up and leave soon I know got her down as well -

Funny you should say that. They actually like me more than my wife does, which isnt saying much, but I am considered the "normal" one!Belly35;1183752 wrote:Maybe they just don't like you thavoice  -
Gblockwell did they at least give her a nice gift or significant amount of cash?

Negative. So far NOTHING from the aunt that didnt show up, and the uncle did one one of those 'How about I pay for __________ some time" deals if ya know what I mean.
and it isnt about a gift at all. It is their only neice...show up to the fuckin party. Hell...ya get free food and drink out of it -
Cat Food Flambe'It could be worse. MY kids have an uncle who didn't make their weddings because he's doing life w/o parole for murdering a 4-year-old; and an aunt who didn't make the daughter's wedding because her office Christmas party was that night.
Note - don't think for a minute that I missed having either one of them there. -
ernest_t_bassVoice, I'm point out the elephant in the room... if these are your wife's siblings, then it doesn't surprise anyone here.

AppleLook on the bright side, Voice, you'll be saving some bucks in a few years when you don't invite the POS's to her wedding.
