NCAA divison 1 Men's Lacrosse Final Four
-
THE4RINGZI didn't see an appropriate classification for this under the sports headings, so feel free to move it where it belongs.
This weekend features the NCAA Division 1 Men's Lacrosse National Championship.
Semi-finals on Saturday feature:
#1 Loyola Maryland vs. #4 Notre Dame
#3 Duke vs. (unranked) Maryland
The final game to be played Monday afternoon.
Will anyone else be watching? Does anyone else care? I know there are a limited number of lacrosse fans on this site, please give me your predictions.
My predictions are:
Notre Dame over Loyola. I love Notre Dame's defense especially after shutting down Virginia last weekend.
Duke over Maryland. This should be a great game, how Maryland wasn't ranked is really a surprise, they have so much talent but look to be on the short end of this game.
In the finals I also like Notre Dame. I think they are a well rounded team who is ready to bring the trophy home to South Bend.
Like with all my predicitions they are flawed so don't bet any real money on this one. -
osudarby08Have not had a chance to keep up with college lax this year, but I played against a few central Ohio kids on Maryland and ND while in high school.
-
THE4RINGZIt looks like there are only three Ohio kids on the rosters for this weekend.
Notre Dame has a kid from Kilbourne
Duke has a player from University School
Maryland has a goalie from WRA -
Emmett BrownI will be watching maybe not live but will at least record the three games. I will say Loyola over Duke.
-
End of LineI'll be watching for sure.
Notre Dame over Loyola
Maryland over Duke (Homer pick) -

Yeah that Maryland vs. Duke game could go either way. Maryland has played some tough lacrosse lately, and I think making it to the finals last year has helped. -
THE4RINGZWell I started out the day 0-1. Good game to watch though.
-
karen lotzWhat was the ND final? Turned it on at 4-1 but didn't watch after halftime. That goal at the end of the half to make it 5-3 was weak.

THE4RINGZDuke is getting smacked right now.

Raped? -

No. Maybe falsely accused of being a Final Four team though. -
ptown_trojans_1Come on Terps, beat the hated Bluedevils.
Looking good so far. I know College Park is pretty excited about the team.
I love those Terps unis too.
A big plus if they can get to the title game over the hated Duke. I went to grad school at UMD, the hatred for Duke is pretty deep. -

Maryland does have the best unis in the tournament. Need to tighten up the D here. -
THE4RINGZAttendance today some where around 30K.
-
ptown_trojans_1Terps turning it on. Looking like an all MD final.
Three goals after Duke cut it to two. -

I was getting nervous for Maryland after that surge by Duke. But they rebounded well and probably just scored the back breaker. -
ptown_trojans_1Damn, that was nice. I don't follow much lacrosse, but that was a nice couple minutes by the Terps.

The flurry the Terps put on in the fourth was incredible. I am now 0-2 on the day. This is why I said in my original post to not bet any real money on my predictions. -
Emmett Brown
Smallest crowed since 2003. I wonder if it has to do with the start times or the location? I would like to see how many fans would attend if it were in Denver.THE4RINGZ;1182502 wrote:Attendance today some where around 30K. -
THE4RINGZMassachusetts seems like an odd location. Baltimore usually draws more people. The lacrosse crowd in Denver is growing but I am not sure they could our more assess in the seats out there as they are so far away from the core lacrosse fan base.

Classyposter58The attendance is so low because of the teams. Notre Dame doesn't have some huge lacrosse following, Loyola is too small to be a MAC school basically. So you've got 2 of the 4 teams with small fanbases and even all four are pretty far from Boston
-
THE4RINGZLoyola with an impressive win. We heard so much about their offensive firepower, but they played some solid defense today. Congratulations Greyhounds.

raiderbuckGF is a Loyola alum. She was psyched. Admittedly, I've never watched Lacrosse, but it looks fun. Looks like a sport that I would have tried out for in High School.
