Will I'll Have Another win the Triple Crown?
-
gutWasn't a believer after the Derby, but that was a heck of a run today...and Bodemeister is no slouch, not by a long shot.
I think we're going to see something that hasn't happened for 34 years. This horse seems much better suited to the longer Belmont than previous pretenders. -
vball10setNo.
-
killer_ewokI sure as fuck hope so.
-
dlazzwho cares
-
chicago510I want him to win the Triple crown, but when I see them in the stable or in the post all I can think of is...

justincredible

j_crazyWhen is the next race?
-
justincredibleBelmont is June 9th.
-
se-alumIt would be cool to see, being as the last one was nearly 35 years ago.
-
sportchamppsI would like to see him do it.
-
Devils AdvocateIs it bad to sat "break a leg" in horse racing?
-
vball10setSorry, but I thought the question was "will he", not "do we want him to".....no, he won't, but yes, I'd love for it to happen.
-
killer_ewokYES!!!!

bigkahunaI don't follow horse racing THAT much, but it feels like we have this conversation almost every year about a horse. They win the first two and then don't show up for Belmont. I know it's a lot longer race, but this feels like annual dèjà vu.

Who gives a shit though? It's definitely not every other year either. I am sure the Belmont stakes wishes it was every other year though, because nobody gives a shit about that race unless there is a triple crown chance.bigkahuna;1176339 wrote:I don't follow horse racing THAT much, but it feels like we have this conversation almost every year about a horse. ZWICK 4 PREZI can't remember this talk since Big Brown in 2008.
-
gutThere's been 11 horses go to Belmont with a shot at the Triple Crown in the past 35 years....so I guess every 3 years lol.
I think this horse is different, though. If not for I'll Have Another, we'd be having this conversation about Bodemeister and THAT would be a horse you could expect not to have it in the Belmont. I'll Have Another will handle the distance much better than past pretenders and, like I said, it's beaten a very very good horse twice now.
I've been hopeful with some of the past pretenders but never confident. I think this is the year. -
chicago510Sounds like Bodemeister isn't going to run...Bob Baffert is probably butthurt, so that helps, but Union Rags (rested derby favorite) will be back.

Baffert is acting like the sore LOSER by taking his ball and going home. Having said that, I think having Bodemeister there, to once again set the pace, might have been good for I'll Have Another. -
gutI don't think Baffert is being a sore loser. He was very happy with the race Bodemeister run, he just acknowledged the "other horse is better".
He's not taking his ball and going home. 3 races in 5 weeks is a lot, and he probably justifiably believes Bodemeister has no chance of winning Belmont. That's not an unusual choice by any stretch. Several horses from the Derby will be at Belmont that skipped the Preakness, and there will also be several horses that haven't run either of the first two legs. -

I said it feels like we have this talk a lot, and then we are let down at Belmont. It's hard to get excited about it.gut;1176411 wrote:There's been 11 horses go to Belmont with a shot at the Triple Crown in the past 35 years....so I guess every 3 years lol.

2-3 of those horses lost the Belmont in literally the last 20 yards or so. I don't know, I think the fact it has been so long IS reason to get excited.bigkahuna;1176990 wrote:I said it feels like we have this talk a lot, and then we are let down at Belmont. It's hard to get excited about it.
Plus, this horse, deservedly or not, is a real underdog. So that's another reason to root for it, and get excited.
