If there are not two countries with borders killing each other, it is not a war, It is pissing in the wind. If there is no war, it is unwinnable.

...The War on Obesity? Pretty sure that war is lost!

    Thread fail.

"War" can be used several different contexts. Additionally, in the context you are using, there can be a war between two parties within a single nation.

Yes except things like "The war on poverty". That is declaring war on a intangible idea.

I agree with the OP, the word "war" is just a bullshit word politicians use to make them seem tougher.

This. There doesn't need to be a tangible thing to have a war.

a : a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism b : a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end.

Also the war on poverty is useless because the poor are poor because they are stupid. You can't fix stupid, you just pray they don't vote or reproduce.

Unfortunately they do both because they have nothing better to do.

There are no politicians here to my knowledge. But, has there not been a "war of words" on the OC before?

Additionaly, every time we travel, some airlines have cheaper flights than others to the same destination. My savings each time is the result of a pricing war.

I'm sure there are other examples, as well. Besides, if RDI agrees with me (of all people) then I know I'm right. ;)

There have been at least a hundred civil wars in our world's history; starting before my boy Jesus ever sported his hippie sandals.
