Skyhook79You need a neither option or add more deserving people to the list. imo.
-
said_aouitaI'd even include this recent rocker.

(AIC, Nirvana and Beastie's are all top 10 in my list) -

justincredibleI'd say Cobain since he died so young with so much potential. Yauch was 20 years older and had a long successful career.

OK a third option is Layne Staley.Skyhook79;1165012 wrote:You need a neither option or add more deserving people to the list. imo.
(Purposely not including "super hero's" like Jimmi Page, Jimi Hendrix, etc....ya kno wut I'm sayin) -

I think Cobain gets too much credit because he died. Same way I feel about Heath Ledger dying before the release of The Dark Knight.justincredible;1165015 wrote:I'd say Cobain since he died so young with so much potential.
It's also possible that Cobain could have put out trash records if he hadn't died.
HOWEVER... if Dave Grohl died, I'd pick him in a landslide. Dude is a beast. -

Definitely Cobain. There is a lot of "what could have been" talk regarding him. Yauch is/was a lasting pioneer.justincredible;1165015 wrote:I'd say Cobain since he died so young with so much potential. Yauch was 20 years older and had a long successful career. -

Dave Grohl vs. Chris Cornell.

Hmm, aight. It's funny, way back when I was at the GnR & Soundgarden show at the Nutter Center, where everyone boo'ed Soundgarden. Yea...they boo'ed Chris Cornell.
It the the sound mixers fault. Luckily, they got it right for the 2nd nights show.
Cornell has done a lot of different stuff with different artists and I like all of it. Grohl, eh...I like em but not all of his stuff. -
Laley23Cobain and Eddie Veder changed music. Beastie Boys were revolutionary to an extent, but not the way grunge changed the music scene.
-
dlazzI'd still lean towards Grohl.

I dig Beastie's, they prob' were even more innovative than Nirvana. But....Yauch was only 1/3 of the sound.Automatik;1165018 wrote: Yauch is/was a lasting pioneer.
Nobody could have replaced Kurt's singing. -

Same w/ Staley though. His voice was one-of-a-kindsaid_aouita;1165022 wrote:I dig Beastie's, they prob' were even more innovative than Nirvana. But....Yauch was only 1/3 of the sound.

HereticI'd put Layne Staley over both of them. Didn't have the long career that Yauch did. Superior performer to Cobain.

word. Sure wish Kurt and Layne would have worked together, they would have been thee GOAT. -

I admire Grohl for the same reason I admire Trent Reznor: He can do it all. Drums, singing, guitar, whatever.said_aouita;1165019 wrote: Grohl, eh...I like em but not all of his stuff. -

Do you admire Prince? Different style but I'd dare say he's a better singer and a hell of a lot better guitar player than Trent.dlazz;1165029 wrote:I admire Grohl for the same reason I admire Trent Reznor: He can do it all. Drums, singing, guitar, whatever. -

ksig489While I love Nirvana's music...Cobain was all about himself and never did anything to help the world. So his loss, at best, just sucked.
Yauch was a pioneer in more ways than just music and tried to make the world a better place. His loss is a true tragedy. -

She's like the wind through my tree
She rides the night next to me
She leads me through moonlight
Only to burn me with the sun
She's taken my heart
But she doesn't know what she's done
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
[SOLO]
I look in the mirror and all I see
Is a young old man with only a dream
Am I just fooling myself
That she'll stop the pain
Living without her
I'd go insane
Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind
Feel your breath on my face
Your body close to me
Can't look in your eyes
You're out of my league
Just a fool to believe
(Just a fool to believe)
She's like the wind
(Just a fool to believe)
Just a fool to believe
(She's like the wind)
Just a fool to believe
(Just a fool to believe)
She's like the wind
(Just a fool to believe)
Just a fool to believe
She's like the wind
(Just a fool...)
(She's like the wind)
(She's like the wind)
(Just a fool...)
(She's like the wind)

Trumps both.
But if I had to vote, I'd say Cobain.
The Beastie Boys didn't do anything for me. -
