I was a cable tv tech when MTV came to Daytona. Beastie Boys were cool. This was at the Pagoda hotel, corner of A1A & Granada in Ormond Beach. Oh, the good old days. Can't believe cancer has killed another one off.

I'm really bummed to hear about this. I was hoping that he would get well enough to tour one last time. But now I'll never get to experience a true Beastie Boys concert.

    RIP MCA

I guess I never really watched their videos back in the day. Seeing that MTV spring break clip, really nothing like I imagined them. Really hard to picture those kids - kind of smallish and toolish looking - singing Paul Revere.

Great music, creativity and videos to the end. They managed to stay relevant for a pretty long time. Lot of songs from the 80's I might like now more than I did then...but among all the other great stuff I feel like Beastie Boys and GnR were really the giants or personified the 80's (there's others, too, not trying to start a debate). Or on anyone's top-5 or top-10 80's groups.

Got to see them play in the round at CSU. I'll never forget when they played Sabotage. The whole place turned into a giant mosh pit.
