Grandpa is part of an Alumni Travel group and there was a trip going to Cuba. Asked if my sister and I could go and we made it work around our schedules. I love traveling, and I wasnt passing up a chance to go to a place not many have ever gone or may ever have the chance to go to again.

For the record, the people are extremely friendly towards Americans. We illegally brought in newpapers and magazines etc. Hell, I bought some stuff down there with pens. Brought a Machete and a few Cigars back with me as well (livin on the edge lol).

Other than the food being absolutely atrocious, one of the best trips Ive been on. So informational. And that country is beautiful, if they had the money to clean it up and fix the buildings and such. The climate is just perfect, just extremely worn down.

I would be afraid to try to sneak stuff in from Cuba. Didn't you think customs would be suspicious of you going there?

We were allowed to bring artwork and music back. I was fully prepared to say the machete was art lol. The cigars and rum they will just break or pour out. They get pissed, but it's more a hassle for them with that stuff. The machete could've been bad, but I had a story lined up haha.

And yes, big tourist destination. Kinda like Vegas though, paid for by the American Mafia. I think it will get back to being very touristy once Castro is gone and maybe they lose their current form of government. Right now there are some hot spots for Canadiens, and other countries. Just that Americans aren't allowed anywhere like that.
