The Memorial Tournament info

Plan on heading down to the Memorial this year, probably one of the practice rounds. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on the practice rounds, best day to go, time to get there, what goes on, etc.

I used to go way back in the late eighties. At that time you could buy a practice round day pass. Sorry, but I have no clue what the current ticket situation is...

I enjoy practice rounds more because you get to see the best players working on their games. Some go by themselves, some will play matches with buddies, some will just work on the range. you used to be able to take cameras in on practice round days also.

I always liked going the day Jack host the clinic... He usually has a few different guys feature a certain shot, drivers, mid-irons, short irons, etc. Usually a good time.

Great venue to watch golf, but you can walk a bunch compared to Firestone. Try to see the whole course... it is an awesome place. Got to play there in the US Junior qualifier... 36 holes for $ 8.00... best golf deal ever. Go early and stay late :) guys are coming and going all day long. If you have trouble moving around at all... hanging out at the range bleachers is hard to beat.

Enjoy and keep us updated. I loved going there, I can even get in the tournament for free, but I can't get away from work to spend enough time there to make it worthwhile.

I went a couple of times in the 80's as a corporate guest. Lots of free beer and finger foods! lol

Like Timber said plan on doing a lot of walking.

You can also opt to hang out at a favorite hole and watch all the key players play through. You don't get to see as much of the course that way, but you will be able to see how all your favorite players attack the hole.

I watched Couples, O'Meara, Stewart, Palmer, Nicklaus, Norman, and a ton more play through. Awesome experience!

Monday will be the least crowded, but the full field probably won't be out practicing that day. Tuesday there is a Pro-Am in the morning, so it will be more crowded, but not bad. Wednesday is the bussiest day because they have a ton going on. It is both military day and junior day, and it's when they run their golf clinic and do the memorial dedication. It's a fun day and everyone will be out, but it is a bit crowded.

If you want to see the bigger names on the course, go earlier in the morning. Most tend to play their practice rounds early, then head to the range and green after.

Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to go IMO. Some of the higher profile players (Tiger, Phil, etc) have a huge following and it is tough to follow them for more than just a few holes. But others (Furyk, Love, etc) dont have the huge following and you can literally walk the entire round by them.

    Just a few facts:

Tiger, Stewart Cink, VJ Sing are all douche bag jerks.

Ernie Els, Ian Poulter, Daly, Bubba Watson, Ricky Fowler and Jose Maria Olazobal are all really good guys and are fun to follow. They all normally interact with the crowd during practice rounds.

PM me closer to the tourney, I doubt I will use my practice round passes so I'll see cheaper than you can buy them.

Used to go quite often but Dublin has become quite the pain to navigate the last couple years.
