Would you consider buying a CJD vehicle?
-
daveI currently have a company car, but they are offering us a chance to opt out and give us a car allowance. Through our employee program we can get some pretty crazy deals on the Chrysler 200, Jeep Patriot, or Dodge Caliber/Avenger. I have heard bad stories about the lack of reliability of CJD over the years but supposedly they have improved drastically, similar to Hyundai's reinvented image/quality. Anyone have friends/family with these vehicles? Most reviews you find online are people who have only had the car a month or so.
Thanks -
GoChiefsI have a 2007 Dodge Charger and have had zero issues. (Knock on wood) If I'm not mistaken, most of the issues seem to be with their trucks?
-
Curly JI have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and have had no issues. In fact when it's paid off I'm going to get either another Wrangler, the 2 door model, or a Challenger.
-
cat_loverHad a 2002 Chrysler Sebring and I now have a 2009 Chrysler Sebring. Both of them have been trouble free outside of routine maintenance.
-
said_aouitaHow longdo you plan on keeping it? Over/under 100k miles?
-
SonofanumpI would have to imagine that with insurance and maintenance that it would better to drive a company car than to opt out, assuming that you have free use of the company car during your free time. I think that a company car adds about $5K to $6K in salary a year

I've done a lot of research and ran the numbers, it's definitely smart to opt out. I'll be getting $450/mo to cover my car/insurance/plates plus a few cents per mile to cover maintenance, still have a gas card. Going to buy so I have the resale value in a few years. Now I'm just hunting for a great deal.Sonofanump;1129457 wrote:I would have to imagine that with insurance and maintenance that it would better to drive a company car than to opt out, assuming that you have free use of the company car during your free time. The Challengers are very nice cars! I'm thinking about getting an '06 to '10 SRT Charger myself with the 6.1 Hemi. We have the R/T with the 5.7 now, but I just love that SRT look. -
dlazzI have a Hyundai.
Hope this helps. -

Considering the speed limit is 35 mph max on my way to work and 65 mph max for The Wife, just how fast does it need to go? -
OSHWhen I win the Mega Millions, I'll buy a Dodge truck. I will only buy Dodge trucks.
I drive a Dodge Stratus -- 'tis true. She's been giving me problems in the last 1.5 years though. It's a 1999 with 130,000 miles -- pretty much sat for 4 years while I was in college. I only drove it on breaks.
If I were to buy a car, I'd probably buy Subaru. I enjoy driving my parents' Subaru Outback Impreza. Good fuel economy. Good crash test ratings. Good life on the vehicles. -

Not going to a race track. I'll take the Challenger over the other 2 any day of the week. -

So for me it would be 36 mph and 66 mph. Well my beater 94 Pathfinder will do 36 mph. I'm not sure if it will go 66 mph. Maybe if I hit that overdrive button it would. -

Then why waste 40g's for a challenger if you don't care about speed? There's literally thousands of other cars that are slower but nicer, handle better , more comfortable, made better and are cheaper than the challenger. You only get a challenger for speed.Curly J;1131083 wrote:So for me it would be 36 mph and 66 mph. Well my beater 94 Pathfinder will do 36 mph. I'm not sure if it will go 66 mph. No. I like the Challenger for the way it looks and that's why I'll buy it. I never said I wanted the R/T, or the SRT, or spending over 40 G's for one. I still pretty sure you can get Challengers for under 40 grand, or 30 grand for that matter. I'm a guy that's not going to spend Thousands on a car that I can't stand to look at, no matter if it's more economical, better build, or whatever. I love the way the Challenger looks period. I liked the way my Jeep looks that's why I bought a Jeep back in 2007...Not because you only buy a Jeep to go off road.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1131132 wrote:Then why waste 40g's for a challenger if you don't care about speed? genghis dongI have a Dodge Dakota, and the wife has a Chrsler Pacifica. We have never had a problem. Great cars.

hoops23The one thing I don't like about Dodge, aside from being a Dodge, is how damn cheap the interiors look. Has this been improved since 2011? It was all plastic for the most part.

No, it really hasn't. That's next on my list for the Charger since the exterior is ALMOST complete.hoops23;1131194 wrote:The one thing I don't like about Dodge, aside from being a Dodge, is how damn cheap the interiors look. Has this been improved since 2011? It was all plastic for the most part.

Edit: Your driverside/passenger-side windows look TOO tinted. That's also illegal.
Hope this helps more.
